Chaplain's Corner- Where is love?
"Commentary on Acts 10:25-26,34-35,44-48; 1 John 4:7-10; John 15:9-17
THE THEME OF TODAY’S MASS is clearly loved. When we see a film or television programme when we hear people singing on the radio, the subject is very often about love. Even in the church, we speak frequently about love. In fact, as Oliver sings in the musical based on Charles Dickens’ story, “Where is love?” And what is love?
According to today’s Second Reading, the centre of all living is love. It is not only the centre of Christian living but needs to be at the centre of any kind of life.
Our Christian faith should not be just seen as a religion, something tacked on to an otherwise secular life which in most respects is the same as everyone else’s. Our Christian faith is a vision of how a human life should be lived in fullness. It teaches us how to be a real person. I think it was St Irenaeus who said a very long time ago that “The glory of God is a person fully alive” (Gloria Deo homo vivens). And a person is only fully alive when full of love. Because such a person then reflects best the God who IS love."

2018-2019 Approved School Calendar
School bus Driver Appreciation - May 7th, 2018
Every day our bus operators safely steer thousands of students to and from school. The earliest school buses date back to the beginning of the 20th century when horse-drawn carriages were used to pick up children, especially from rural areas, to take them to and from school. In 1927, Ford dealership owner A.L. Luce produced a bus body for a 1927 Ford Model T. Today’s school buses, though obviously much more modern and considerably larger, still resemble this original design. The shade of yellow known today as “school bus yellow” was adopted as a standard color for North American school buses in 1939.
School buses have played an enormous role in the education of our children. School Bus Driver Appreciation Day is a well-deserved salute in the direction of all of those men and women who dedicate their lives to helping children get to and from school safely every day, while staying patient, helpful and positive all throughout.
Let's thank them for going the distance and celebrate their commitment to student learning!
