New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) - Bring your Charged Chromebook

This morning, we began to administer the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. The assessments for English language arts (ELA) and Mathematics will be administered to students in grade 11 for the purpose of meeting the state graduation assessment requirement. The state-mandated NJGPA will be administered in our district from March 14 through March 17, 2022 with make-up dates from March 21 through March 24, 2022.


Please be sure that your student brings their fully charged Chrome Book to school in order to take the assessment. We do not have extra devices to give students who forget to bring or charge their device.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to the members of the boys track team who competed with the best of the country at the New Balance Indoor Nationals this past weekend. The team of Jacob Kiyler, Joudou Diawara, Teddy Wilson, and Diego Rodriguez competed in the Sprint Medley Relay on Friday. In the 4x800 relay on Sunday, Diego and Teddy came back to team up with Jack Cordiano and Matt Sabo to run a seasons best time of 8:07!


Congratulations to our March Students of the Month, Jaclyn Benvenuto and Ryan Baker!


Jaclyn is a 4 year letter winner on our Varsity Basketball team. She has been a member of our soccer team, Interact, SADD and volunteers her time with the Challenger Basketball League. Additional volunteer activities include, the Toms River Animal Shelter, Ocean County Hunger Relief, and the MS and Diabetes Society. Jackie has achieved High Honor Roll throughout her high school career and has been voted, “Most Talkative” by the Class of 2022. After graduation, Jackie will be attending Nova Southeastern University studying Biology - Pre Nursing.


Ryan serves as the Captain of both our boy’s basketball and varsity baseball teams. He is active in TEAM, Captain’s Crew, Student Council, and Mariner Maniacs. He has earned three academic letters and has been inducted into the National Honor Society. Ryan co-founded the Replay Sports Initiative and was voted “Best All Around” by the Class of 2022. After graduation, he will be attending Villanova University as a Marketing/ Business Analytics major.


Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Month, Mrs. Marilyn Duchak!


Mrs. Duchak has taught at High School North for 24 of her 31 year teaching career. She currently works with our seniors but has taught many different English courses. Outside of school, Mrs. Duchak enjoys reading, traveling to Lake George, and spending time with her family. She enjoys the camaraderie of our staff, the diversity of our school activities, and being with her students.

For over 50 years the American Legion Auxiliary has provided junior girls with a unique opportunity to learn how and why our system of government works. Each year girls from across the country are selected for the program based on their interest in government, leadership potential, scholastic achievement, and personal accomplishments. Girls’ State is a week long conference designed to help high school students develop a new perspective on the complexities of government and develop leadership, confidence and poise.
