4th Grade Students Letter Exchange with KACH Children's Home
Our Business Manager, Rebecca Quintana and her two children took a trip to Kenya. There they visited the KACH Children's home in Meru. Rebecca's daughter Jullissa is a 4th grader at Sargent Elementary, her class wrote letters to the children in Meru wanting to learn more about their culture and letting them know a little about ours. Pictured above is Mrs. Durre's 4th grade class with their letters they received from the children at the KACH Children's home.

New School Record for Donations Raised for the American Heart Association
Sargent Elementary kids almost doubled our school record for donations raised for the American Heart Association. The previous record was set in 2001 with $6,940.00 raised. This group of kids now hold the new record for our school of money raised- $12,683.30! This also put us as a ranked school in Colorado. Mrs. Cotten celebrated with her student's with a slimming session at our last elementary assembly.
Elementary Math Enrichment Projects
Math Enrichment project for students working above grade level in Math. Students had to figure out total cost for the resort they designed, in order to gain construction approval. Both groups decided on their own to create a type of presentation, explaining their project. Group 1 created a slideshow and group 2 constructed a model. They seemed to have a lot of fun with the project. They had plenty of practice with multiplication, learned about group work/contributions, and oral presentation skills. They quickly learned how expensive things are and began discussing ways to save money, while still building a resort that people would want to come to. Mrs. Durre was impressed by their attention to detail, self-motivation, desire to go the extra mile, and thoughtfulness.
