Playground and School Grounds

We are thrilled to have a new playground at Smithfield! Unfortunately, at this time, no students are allowed on CMS school campuses. Therefore, our dolphins will have to wait a little longer until they can test it out. Thank you!

CMS Harassment and Bullying Lesson (K-12)

Dear Parent(s)/Caregiver(s):

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Toward that end, age-appropriate grade-level lessons have been developed to assist students in the following areas:

The Way to a Teacher's Heart... Snacks!

We are supplying a daily snack cart with cold drinks and yummy grab-and-go options for our staff, however our supply is running low.

If you are able, families can drop off canned drinks and individual packaged snacks and fruit. Please pull to the front of the school and call the front office (980-343-6550). We will come right out to get the donations from your car.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Curriculum Night

Smithfield historically has held Curriculum Night in September for families. Due to the current circumstances, we are going to plan a virtual Curriculum Night when the district returns to Plan B. By doing so, the information presented will be aligned to our in-person plans and expectations.
Check out this website from Ms. Solar, our Media Teacher! There are a TON of resources available for students to read digital books!

Immunizations

CMS families are encouraged to have their children immunized for the 2020-2021 school year. Vaccines and health assessments are required by the state for children to attend school. On Aug. 11, N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper extended the compliance deadline for immunizations and health assessments to Oct. 31.

Vaccinations are required for students entering kindergarten, seventh grade and 12th grade. Families may receive more information from their doctor, school nurse or the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department, 704-336-6500, which has vaccine-only appointments.

Mecklenburg County Public Health has provided multiple school immunization clinics on Saturdays; families can call for appointments for upcoming clinics Aug. 29 and Sept. 12. Click here for details.

Headphones

We are hearing a lot of background noise in many of our live classes. It is recommended that students use headphones if able. Families can borrow a pair of headphones per student from Smithfield. If you need headphones, please come to the front door M-F between 9am-2pm.
