The Cardiovascular System
The Cardiovascular System Structure and Function by Darilyn
Tracing the flow of blood through the body.
When a heart contracts and forces blood into the blood vessels, there is a certain path that the blood follows through the body. The blood moves through pulmonary circulation and then continues on through systemic circulation. Pulmonary and systemic are the two circuits in the two-circuit system of higher animals with closed circulatory systems.
Indentification of type of blood vessels.
*Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart to other tissues.
*Capillaries serve as the location for the exchange of gases and nutrients between blood and tissue cells.
*Veins are blood vessels that carry towards the heart from various tissues.
Decribing blood cell formation
Is also called hempoesis , continous process by which the celluar constituents of blood are replenished as needed.
Distinguishing among human blood groups
Many people know what their blood type is and understand taht blood types must be matched in a medical emergency.
The ABO blood group is most significant blood factor in clinical application involving blood transfusion.
