Fire Truck Ride
We had such a fun time riding the old fashioned fire truck around the neighborhood!
Elmer Parade
Mr. Fenton read the whole kindergarten class a book called Elmer. This story is about an elephant who is unique and shows his rainbow colors proudly. Even though he is different from all the other elephants, everyone is so glad to have him as a special friend. The book teaches us to celebrate our differences because we are all unique! After reading the story, we headed to the cafeteria to make our very own Elmers. We were so proud of our elephants, each one a little different from another, that we paraded around the whole school to show our pride! :)
Handwriting
Everyone is so excited to start our handwriting program, Zaner Bloser. "It's kind of like homework," one child said with a big smile on his face.
4 Daily Fives down, 1 to go
Wow! Our stamina has really grown. We have met our goal for both Read to Self and Work on Writing. Only a few minutes left for Read to Someone, and Word Work is following closely behind. Next week we will launch the LAST Daily Five: Listen to Reading! After the launching process is over and all of our stamina goals have been met, the students will be able to make their own choices of 2 Daily Fives they would like to work on each day. Don't think kindergarteners can be independent? Check out Room 504! You will see students focused on their reading and writing and you will hear absolute silence! What an amazing feat!
NO SCHOOL FRIDAY OR MONDAY!
There is no school Friday, October 9th for Teacher Institute Day or Monday, October 12th for Columbus Day.
