Graphic Design Assistant Job

Maryland Institute for Technology for in the Humanities (MITH) is looking for a creative undergraduate or graduate assistant specializing in graphic design. This is a great learning opportunity and a chance to work with a design professional to increase your knowledge and skills in graphic design to strengthen your resume before graduation. Applicants must be eligible for a Federal Work Study award.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Graphic Designer in designing marketing materials for various MITH projects
  • Research pricing on print/swag items
  • Contact and negotiate with printing companies for print quotes
  • Prepare final project files for submission
  • Place print orders

Qualifications

  • Graphic design experience or relevant college level coursework
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Familiarity with marketing and publicity
  • Self-motivated
  • Willing to take the initiative and contribute suggestions and ideas
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Desired Skills

  • Web design and coding experience: HTML/CSS and Adobe Dreamweaver (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with MailChimp (HTML e-newsletter software)
  • Video editing experience: iMovie or Final Cut Pro (or equivalent)
