Staff Update
January 11, 2019
Meet Mrs. Kristina
I’m very excited to be part of this school and hope to be assigned here full-time next year! Currently I’m at Hillcrest on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday and the Middle School/FC on Wednesday and Thursday.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I’m currently going through the play therapy certification program as well through Heartland Play Therapy Institute.
I graduated from Missouri State University with my B.S. in Psychology and then received my Masters in Social Work at UMKC. I’ve worked in the social services field for about 11 years now.
I have three children (7 year-old son and 2 1/2 year old twins, daughter and son). I grew up in Belton and I'm excited to now be helping this community out by working at Hillcrest. I love spending time with family, reading, doing yoga, and listening to music.

Reminder from the MTSS Plan
After the mid-year STAR Benchmark, complete PAST, DRA, and/or Fast ForWord to verify instructional level and establish baseline for students whose development of skills fall below the 25th percentile in reading (PAST- below 3rd grade reading level. DRA- 3rd grade reading level or higher. FastForword- Secondary). When PAST, DRA, or Fast ForWord scores support a need for intervention, determine and implement Tier I (in-class differentiated small-group) instruction. (Kindergarten will begin using the secondary screener at the mid-year benchmark, not at the fall benchmark.)
You can refer to the MTSS plan for further information.

Drill Reminders
Please remind students that we need to take drills seriously as these are needed practice.
For tornado drills, you must stay within the tornado arrow signs on the walls downstairs, the were place to guide you to the safe zones determine by the fire department.
For fire drills, everyone must go out back of the building to the playground area. This is the safest area in the event of a real fire and would allow for emergency personnel to access the school. Every teacher’s classroom key will open the padlock gate so you are able to get to the playground even if you went out the front doors. It is a requirement for teachers to wear their badge and keys at all times.
