Connecting with the Counselors
A Communication from Robinson Elementary's Counseling Team
November 1, 2021
Happy November! We hope you had a great Halloween and that you are recovering from all the candy and fun! We are writing a Monday message since we, too, were enjoying Halloween. If your family doesn't celebrate Halloween, we also hope that you had a great Sunday night.
We all really enjoyed Friday's parade and festivities. What a way to wrap up Red Ribbon Week and our month of Ending Bullying with Kindness month. Seeing our kids complimenting each other on their costumes and helping each other get ready was very sweet. The thinking and creativity that our kids (with your help!) put into their costumes was also just amazing. The weather left a bit to be desired, but the absolute joy in our kids (and adults) made it seem almost sunny and 70!
This Wednesday night we are excited for the first book study meeting (on zoom) with students in 3rd-5th grades who have signed up. We are reading Stamped (For Kids), by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. There is still time to sign up and information can be found below in the "Repeated information" section. Thank you to the parent-led Robinson Equity Group (REG) for putting this opportunity together and including us. We are also so lucky to have books donated for lending to any child wanting to participate.
On Thursday evening some of us will be discussing a lot of important concepts with our PTO executive board and administration. We are following the Board of Education's lead and we are reading Belonging Through a Culture of Dignity: The Keys to Successful Equity Implementation, by Floyd Cobb and John Krownapple. We will be sure to share with you our learning.
