Jefferson Jotter
April 2021
Letter from Principal
Dear Jefferson Parents,
We are excited to be welcoming back more students after spring break, as some of our remote students will be coming for in-person learning and some of our speech students will be getting in-person speech services! It will be nice to see the children reacquainting themselves with their teacher/therapist and classmates.
As we embark upon Spring Break, some families have great stay-cations planned while others will be traveling. If you will be traveling, we continue to ask for your cooperation in keeping Jefferson School safe by following the travel guidance established by the Cook County Department of Pubic Health (CCDPH). Please read below for further information about travel guidance and the return to school.
I continue to be appreciative of how our families are committed to making our students and staff safe by monitoring their child's health each day, keeping their child home if they have any COVID symptoms or have had exposure to a probable or positive case, and providing the school nurse with the pertinent information when determining the return to school date after illness or travel. With one trimester remaining, it looks like we'll be able to finish out the school year with children smiling, laughing, and having fun at school!
I hope you and your family have a fun, restful, and safe spring break!
Respectfully,
Lisa Halverson
Principal

Jefferson School Information
If you plan to travel during spring break, the district continues to ask for your cooperation by following the travel guidelines. Here is the most recent travel guidance. You will see that depending upon which state(s) you travel to your child may need to quarantine and/or be tested for COVID. During a quarantine period your child may join their class remotely if given advance notice. If this applies to your situation, please email Ms. Halverson lhalverson@d64.org and our school nurse, Ms. Coleman pcoleman@d64.org as-soon-as-possible so you can be provided with the return to school information.
Please remember to have your car name tag out and visible when picking up your child from school. The name tags are most visible when you have them displayed on the passenger side window. If your child is new to in-person learning, the car tag will be placed in your child's folder the first day of attendance.
Our students looked adorable for their school photos! If you ordered school pictures you should have received your child's pictures. However, if your child was absent for picture day or you are unhappy with your child's photo they will have their picture taken on Monday, April 12th. If wanting a retake, please contact Kathy Luppo at 847-318-5360 and send back your student's photo packet. Students in Mrs. Hallerduff's morning remote class that need to have a picture retake should call the school office to make an appointment for April 12th.
The final invoice for preschool tuition will be sent out April 15th through My School Bucks. Please note that the invoice will be higher than usual as the invoice covers the month of May and June. Payment will still be due May 1st.
We hope you enjoyed speaking with your child's teacher to learn about how he/she has been doing in school. It is always exciting to see the growth the students make at this time of year. Thank you for being a partner in your child's education!
Thank you to the families who completed the 5 Essentials Parent Survey. We had a great response rate with 47% of our parents completing the survey! We look forward to reviewing the survey results to find out what is working well at Jefferson and any opportunities for improvement.
The district is seeking substitute teachers, lunchroom supervisors, and substitute custodians to work in the District 64 schools. If you are interested in applying click here or call 847-318-4300 to inquire.
No School
Students and staff will be off for Spring Break March 22 - 26. Students will also have no school on April 2nd and April 6th. Please mark your calendars!
