January in Review
A look back at the fun and growth in the month of January
Message from the Principal
We are officially in the second half of the school year! Just a reminder that your child will not bring home a printed copy of the report card unless you specifically requested one by filling out the hard copy request form we sent home a few weeks ago. If you are having problems viewing the report card online, please call the office! Mrs. Cunningham will be happy to assist!
Students took the STAR assessment at the beginning of January. Reports were sent home with the students on Tuesday. If you have not seen the reports, please ask your child to show them to you. You can compare the fall score to the winter score to see the growth. We'd like to see students falling the 40th percentile or higher for growth. This is known as the SGP. The higher the SGP the more a student has grown.
Our first graders took the early literacy component of STAR. Because they did not take this in the fall, they will not have a growth percentile. First grade parents will see the growth when we take the spring STAR assessment. Should you have any questions about the data that was sent home, please contact your child's teacher. They will be happy to answer questions.
We have some very exciting events coming up at the end of the month of February. February 26th -March 2nd (the week before spring break) will be a week long celebration of literacy in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday. During this week we will sponsor 2 Grandparents Days. On Tuesday, February 27th, grandparents will be invited to eat with their grandchild(ren) that is/are in 1st or 3rd grade. On Wednesday, February 28th, grandparents will be invited to eat with their grandchild(ren) that is/are in 2nd or 4th grade. More detailed information will be sent home soon.
Thursday, March 1st will also be our literacy night from 4-7. We are opening our building to all our families to showcase all the hard work our students have been putting forth this year. We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to share our school with all of you. We couldn't be more proud of our kids!
