Our next event will be in the Stayton High School cafeteria on May 8th from 5:30-6:30. Please join us for a delicious cup of soup and some great conversation!

As of today, the Oregon legislature has not yet provided funding to school districts to provide summer learning programs in July-Aug 2023. We are very disappointed because we know how crucial this opportunity is for many students. We are currently pursuing all other options available. We will notify families at the earliest possible moment but want to communicate that if funding cannot be secured in the coming days, there will not be sufficient time to prepare and we'll not be able to offer summer school this year.

The NSSD "Summer Bridge" math program will still return to Stayton Middle School from July 31-August 10 to help prepare 8th graders for high school math. For more info, click on the flyer below.

Summer Meal Service

Meal service will continue this summer, and currently, we are planning to serve at the following sites between 11:00 am-1:00 pm from July 5 - August 11.

Registration for next school year is open right now and we ask that families complete the process as soon as possible. NSSD is switching to a new student information system this summer for the 2023-24 school year. This system will be complete in June so those who have not completed registration online by June 1st will need to go into a school office in August and complete registration in writing.

For information on how to register, you can visit the enrollment section of our website. Parents do need their Gradebook user ID number so if that is not accessible to you, please contact your school office. Students registering for Kindergarten at Stayton Elementary and Mari-Linn need to contact their school offices for packets.

Incoming 9th graders can learn about high school life tomorrow (4/25) at Future Eagle Night starting at 6:30 pm at Stayton High School.

Director of Teaching & Learning, Nicole Duncan (effective April 2023)

Nicole has served in education for 19 years, 13 years of which have been in the NSSD. In those 19 years, she has served as a Chemistry teacher, District Instructional Coach, and most recently as the Instructional Support and Services Team (ISST) Assistant Coordinator and our District’s AVID Coordinator. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science degree in Education, both from Oregon State University.

Director of Special Services, Brittney Spencer (effective July 2023)

Brittany has served in special education for 11 years. During that time, she has served as a Life Skills teacher, Behavior Classroom teacher, Autism/Behavior Consultant, and for the past three years as Special Education Program Administrator for Lane ESD. Brittney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Pacific University.

We look forward to incredible contributions from both of these talented individuals! We are currently in the hiring process for a new principal for Mari-Linn School for 2023-24 and look forward to making that announcement soon.
