What is Identity Theft?
- Identity Theft is when someone steals your identity/personal information without your information. Warning signs of Identity Theft is if information is received through the mail about apartments rented, cars or houses purchased that were unauthorized. An individual learns that their credit history is preventing them from obtaining a loan or mortgage. Checks, utility bills and/or mail are missing and an account has been completely drained.. If any of this occurs you must seek help from your Postal services, bank to cancel all cards connected to your account, and be sure to check your credit score daily just to be safe!
ways to prevent it from happening
To prevent identity theft, do not give out personal information over the phone . Also shred your receipts, credit card offers, bank statements, returned checks and any other personal information before throwing it away..(becareful what you throw away).. in other words!
