PLAN B CALENDAR - PAY ATTENTION TO THE CHANGES DURING NOVEMBER

Big picture

THERE ARE NOW TWO WAYS TO BE MARKED ATTENDED FOR CLASS

THIS IS FOR EVERY STUDENT IN THE CLASS OR WORKING REMOTELY

  • Be present for the class (either in the building classroom or the online classroom)
  • Submit work for the class during that day

SUPPLIES ARE EASY - BUT IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOUR CHILD HAS THEM FROM DAY ONE

  • HEADPHONES/EARBUDS (students will need them for watching videos and other content online)
  • CHARGED CHROMEBOOK
  • FULL WATER BOTTLE - students can bring in any kind of water bottle as long as it's appropriate for school. Make sure your child fills it with water every day - the water fountains are closed. When students go to lunch they will be allowed to fill up their water bottle at the filling station (it's the only one in the school).
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES - whatever supplies they are currently using for classes

SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW

  • You have the right to change your mind about whether to be Virtual Academy or Hybrid (Group A or B). Anytime you want to change your status, let the school know.
  • If you are Virtual Academy and want to come back into the school, there will be a one week lag time to give the data manager and transportation time to make the change. For example, if you call the school and request to move to Hybrid on a Tuesday, then you will be eligible to begin coming into the school the following Tuesday.
  • If you are Hybrid (Group A or B) and you want to go to Virtual Academy, let the school know and you are all set.

  • There will NOT be clubs this year - we promise clubs will come back again in the future.

  • We WILL have a sports program beginning in December (more on that below). The important thing to know right now is that you have to be passing your classes to play.

PLEASE READ THESE COVID SAFETY EXPECTATIONS CAREFULLY

WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW ABOUT THE SPORTS PROGRAM

  • Most sports will have some kind of season
  • Teams will be playing in county only - that means that FMS, Bunn, Cedar Creek, and Terrell Lane will be playing each other
  • Students who are in Virtual Academy, Group A, and Group B can be on sports teams
  • We will NOT be playing teams from other counties
  • Seasons will be shorter, with less total games
  • For football, there will be a cap of 100 spectators
  • For basketball and all sports that are indoors, there will be a cap of 25 spectators
  • When we have home games, only one guardian per player or cheerleader will be allowed to order a pre-game ticket for indoor events
  • Guardians will NOT be allowed to attend games that are at other schools, only home games
  • Masks are mandatory for all spectators
  • Athletes need to expect to wear masks while on the sidelines, and anytime they are not playing
  • Each player will need their own water bottle
  • All covid safety protocols will be in place
  • STUDENTS MUST BE PASSING THEIR CLASSES TO PARTICIPATE IN SPORTS

HOW WE DECIDE IF A STUDENT HAS TO BE QUARANTINED AND SENT HOME

  1. We screen all people coming into the building, getting on the bus, or getting dropped off, according to the tool below, and they may get sent back home at that point.
  2. At all times we will err on the side of caution. That means that if a student is coughing a lot or has any other possible covid symptoms, then that student will likely be quarantined and sent home.
  3. If your child has any symptoms listed in the FMS covid screening tool (see below), please keep him or her home!
  4. KEEPING A STUDENT HOME DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THAT THEY ARE ABSENT (SEE NEXT)
  5. Attendance will still count for students who stay home with symptoms if they attend their Google Meets or submit work.
  6. If your child is too sick to do school, please call the school and let us know.
  7. If your child is home and fine, but has symptoms, please call the school and let us know.
  8. Please make sure to notify the school if your child has been exposed to covid, has been tested for covid, or has tested positive for covid.
  9. Allergies/asthma/colds are obvious to those who have them, but not to everyone else - if any of these are causing a lot of coughing, sneezing, or nose blowing, that student will have to be quarantined and sent home. We have to follow the screening tool no matter what.
  10. All students who are quarantined and sent home are reported to FCS for follow-up communication. Expect a phone call regarding your child's symptoms and a plan put in place for returning to the school building.
  11. If a child is sent home or is at home with symptoms, that child can NOT come back into the building without a plan in place for readmittance through the school district. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD BACK TO SCHOOL WITHOUT FOLLOWING THE PLAN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT GIVES YOU.
  12. WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE - THANK YOU UNDERSTANDING THAT WE HAVE TO BE OVERLY CAUTIOUS.

THERE WILL BE CASES - IT'S NOTHING TO BE EMBARASSED ABOUT! WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC AND PEOPLE WILL GET COVID. THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO NOTIFY THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS YOU ARE GIVEN

FMS COVID SYMPTOMS SCREENING TOOL

THIS IS THE SCREENING PROCESS THAT WE USE TO DECIDE WHETHER TO SEND SOMEONE HOME.

Big picture

COVID-19 IS A LOT LIKE THE FLU - YOU NEED TO GET TESTED!

Big picture

YOU WILL GET A LETTER IF WE SEND YOUR CHILD HOME OR IF YOUR CHILD IS EXPOSED

FCS EXCLUSION LETTER

This is the letter you will get if your child is quarantined and sent home, or if your child has been exposed to a sibling with symptoms or someone found positive with Covid-19.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL AT 919-494-2971
