Principal's News

Welcome back! We are happy to all be together.


Bus (Transportation) button on the Kennedy Home Page to find out their busing information. If they are using their phones they will have to click on Pages. click on Bus Routes by Address to find your Bus number (Rt.) and times. Please make sure your child(ren) scan on and off the bus. It is good practice to make sure your child(ren) are familiar and comfortable with their bus drop off location. To help the younger students you could meet them at their bus stops.

Just a reminder:

The federal government required masks be worn by all passengers and the driver on buses.

Extra Mask - Please send extra masks in your students backpack. Thank you.

COVID Testing - REMEMBER: if any member of your family is tested- please make sure you keep your students home until the test results have been received. Please share the results with the school. Thank you for continuing to keep us up-to-date.

Thank you for your cooperation and showing other's empathy and kindness. We look forward to having everyone back in the building together!

School Start and End Times

School start time is 8:02 am and dismissal time is 2:24 pm. Doors will open at 7:47 am. Do not drop children off any earlier than 7:47 am to ensure that students are supervised.

Grades K - 2 enter through Main Door (6); Grades 3 - 5 enter through Gym Doors (7)

All doors will be available to exit.

If you drop off your child or children at school, we ask that you be kind and patient to others in the drop off loop. If the loop gets congested, you can pull to the tennis court for extra parking and drop off space.

  • Have your child ready to get out of the car once you are stopped. Have their backpack and device beside them, so they can exit the car as quickly as possible..
  • All children being dropped off in the loop should get out on the passenger side door.
  • Adults are to ALWAYS remain in the vehicle.
  • If your child needs assistance in dressing or gathering their belongings, please park in the parking lot to assist them. Fast drop offs keeps the drop off line flowing.
  • The north loop is for buses and daycares only, not for parent drop off or parent pick up.
  • Parents picking up Kindergarten & 1st grade students, please park on the south side of 44th Ave ONLY for the safety of your children. We do not want them crossing the street to get into your cars.
  • Pull up as far as you are able.
  • Be courteous to staff and others while dropping off - they are they are they to assist with the safety of dropping off and picking up of of your child/ren.


Please help us with our daily attendance by calling the school if your child is absent. By calling the school we are able to insure that your child is safe and accounted for each day.

If your child arrives at school after the bell rings at 8:02 AM, they will need to stop at the office to get a tardy slip before going to the classroom.

APPOINTMENTS: If you need to pick up your student for an appointment during the school day, come to door 6 and ring the security bell to enter the school. You must wear a mask into the school. Your child will be called down to the office once you arrive and you may sign them out at that time.

The USDA has issued a waiver to allow all students to receive free breakfast/lunch for the 2021.22 school year, however mid-morning beverage is NOT included in this waiver. Parent/guardians must still pay for mid-morning beverage unless they qualify for free/reduced meals through direct certification or by submitting a free/reduced application and meeting the requirements established by the USDA. We encourage all families to complete the free/reduced application after July 1, 2021 (we cannot accept applications for next school year prior to this date) for next school year. LUNCH If you bring a bag lunch from home and would like to have milk your child will have to purchase milk for lunch.


Students K-5 will have a choice of 1% white milk, fat free chocolate milk or orange juice. First semester milk will begin on Monday, August 30, 2021 through Friday, January 14, 2022. The cost will be $0.35 per day @ 85 days or $29.75 for the first semester. Payments can be made when logging into PowerSchool and selecting SchoolPay or by dropping a check off in the office. Please indicate your child's name and beverage choice in the memo on your check.


Kennedy recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence

National PTA School of Excellence is a recognition program that supports and celebrates partnerships between local PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. Kennedy PTA enrolled in the School of Excellence program Fall 2019, worked at identifying areas of improvement through parent feedback surveys, and worked for the past 2 years to make improvements. After a delay due to COVID-19 Kennedy was recognized this month as a 2020-2022 National PTA School of Excellence. Thank you to Lyn Telford, Principal Rage, our entire PTA Board and everyone at Kennedy who helped us achieve this exceptional recognition.

Kennedy PTA Meeting, September 13th, 6:30pm

We are planning our first Kennedy PTA meeting on Monday, September 13th at 6:30pm. This meeting will be broadcast online and is also planned to be in-person on the new Outdoor Classroom space (weather permitting). So BYOC (bring your own chair) and join us. Watch our Facebook group for updates including possible food available before the meeting.

Kennedy Walk-A-Thon

Save the Date! The annual Kennedy Walk-a-thon will be held Monday and Tuesday September 13th and 14th during your students gym time on the outdoor path on the Southwest side of Kennedy Elementary. We will need volunteers to help hand out bracelets to the students. Please sign up here

This is our main fundraiser for the year and our goal is $12,000. We have made it easy to fundraise, simply create an online donation link for your students and share it with friends, family and neighbors. Here is the link to get started or you can just have them write a check to Kennedy PTA. Many employers will also contribute or match donations. You can find the list of items to be funded this year on the walk-a-thon site above. Fundraising packets will be going home soon but you can get ahead start and get your students online donation set up now. Prizes will be given and all donations must be received by September 20th to be considered in the prize categories.

Walk/Bike to School Day, September 17th

Kennedy students are invited to walk or bike to school on Friday, September 17th or engage in some physical activity that week. Several students who participate will be randomly drawn to win prizes. You can volunteer by using this link

Donations for Kennedy Outdoor Classroom

Kennedy PTA is leading the effort to raise $6500 for 5 all-weather tables to be added to the new Outdoor Classroom space. If you are able to donate please do so at

Join Kennedy PTA

We are only as great as our members, and need every family at Kennedy to join PTA. Memberships are only $5 for the year through September 2nd, and join does not require you to volunteer.
