From the desk of Principal Carroll
Welcome back to our students, staff, and families!
On behalf of myself and the Keller staff, we hope you had an enjoyable summer break! We look forward to working with you and celebrating your child's success this year!
At the end of last year, a few of our staff members retired and moved on to other adventures. However, we are excited to introduce you to some of our new staff members for this year! We are pleased to welcome Ms. Landeros who will be teaching first grade, Ms. Eliquin who will be teaching second grade, Ms. Chesin who will be teaching third grade, and Ms. Lopez who will be teaching fifth grade!
School and home communication is very important and being a partner with you about your child's education is our number one priority! Please check your child's backpack each day for important papers and assignments. If you need to communicate with your child's teacher you may send them an email, call the office and leave a message, come to the office and complete a parent concern form, or send them a message through Class Dojo. All staff emails are located on our school website. If you have a concern, please address it with your child's teacher first. If the concern is not addressed or resolved with the teacher, please contact the office to speak with the principal or assistant principal.
To become familiar with our school, we invite you to read through our Parent & Student Handbook which is located on our school website. The handbook will provide you with important information. If you have any questions about the handbook or Keller Elementary, please contact a member of our school office staff who will be happy to help you.
This year, we will continue our After School All Stars after school program! Last year, was our first year with this program and it was a huge success! This year's program will begin on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 3:11 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and sign ups will be on a first come first serve basis. More information on the different after school clubs for this program will come home with your student during the first week of school. Sign ups are completed through an online portal where you and your child will be able to register and select which after school club they would like to join. The first hour of this program will be an academic hour where students will be able to receive additional assistance with reading, writing, and math.
We look forward to an exciting and successful year of learning and growing with you and your child. If you need further assistance or have any questions, please reach out to the school at 702-799-2140.
Thank you for your continued support!
~Mrs. Carroll
Important Information
New Arrival and Dismissal Schedules & Procedures
We wanted to update you on some new changes for this year. First, our school dismissal and morning tardy times have changed this year. Gates will open at 8:45 a.m. and we would like all students to be lined up at their classroom lines at that time. The tardy bell will ring at 9:00 a.m. If your student arrives after this time, they will need to go to the office to receive a tardy slip.
Dismissal time will be at 3:11 p.m. It is very important that students are picked up on time. There is no supervision after school and the school office closes at 4:00 p.m. All late pick ups will be recorded on the child's record in Infinite Campus. After the third late pick up, students will be taken to the Safekey program in the MPR and parents will be responsible for paying for the after school care. If you need assistance with after school care, please enroll your child in the Clark County Safekey Program.
In accordance with the Clark County School District procedures, starting this year, parents and guardians, will not be allowed on school campus before and after school. If parents or guardians wish to visit, they will need to enter through the school office. With this new procedure and to ensure student safety, students will be dismissed from specific gates based on grade level. Students in Kindergarten will be released from the Kindergarten gate located at the front of the school. Students in first grade will be released from gate 1 located at the front of the school near the playground area. Students in second grade will be released from gate 4 located at the side of of the school off of Riata Ave. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be released from the gate closest to their classroom. In addition, if students in grades 3, 4, or 5 have younger siblings to pick up, they will be released to do so. All students who ride the bus will be released to the bus area and supervised until the bus arrives.
