STUDENT SCHEDULES
Hello Dragon Families!
Staff and students continue to work together to navigate the exciting addition of flexible seating at JDAL. Last year students expressed a desire for more collaboration, and staff agreed! Our new system was implemented with the goal of allowing students the freedom to visit the areas of school that best fit their learning needs for particular projects or areas of learning. This vision includes students moving often throughout the day, incorporating more hands-on learning, and having conversations with the content advisor to optimize and elevate student learning.
Although JDAL does not have a traditional class schedule with a bell system, our students still have a need to identify their own individual daily schedules. These individual schedules ensure that students are incorporating many types of learning throughout their day in many different areas.
Advisors have started working with students to create schedules that best fit the students' needs. We recognize that students learn in different ways and that the student schedules will be as unique as each of our learners. Some students need schedules that break down their work into fifteen minute increments, while others prefer hourly tasks. Others may prefer to identify priority areas for the week. Our goal is not to implement a one-size fits all system, but to help each student figure out the system that works best for him or her.
If you have questions or concerns about the flexible seating structure, please feel free to contact me to discuss further.
Thank you for being a dragon! We appreciate you and we believe in you.
With gratitude,
Jen + the JDAL Staff

Operation Finale: An Incredible True Story
Students will learn more about this event during morning circles leading up the field experience. Following the film, students will be encouraged to create a project based on what they have learned.
Synopsis: Fifteen years after the end of World War II, a team of top-secret Israeli agents travels to Argentina to track down Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi officer who masterminded the logistics that brought millions of Jews to their deaths in concentration camps. Hoping to sneak him out of the country to stand trial, a Mossad agent soon finds himself playing a deadly game of cat and mouse with the notorious war criminal.
Operation Finale tells the true story of the hunt for one of the worst war criminals in the known history of the world. It is a straightforward, old-fashioned spy caper, steeped in the nuts-and-bolts of bringing one man home alive to answer for the crimes of the Third Reich.
