Box Tops Update
2017 Pre-Kindergarten Application
Coweta County School System elementary schools will take applications for the 2017-18 Georgia Pre-K lottery drawing March 1 through March 17.
Schools will take applications from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each school day beginning Wednesday, March 1. Application ends at noon on Friday, March 17, and lottery drawings for spots in the limited-space classes will be held at schools at 1:00 p.m. on that day. Parents do not have to be present for the drawing in order for students to be selected into the program.
To apply, parents must bring photo identification for the parent, a birth certificate for the applying child, and one form of proof of residence (including, for example, a mortgage document or a security deed, apartment, lease or rent receipt indicating the current address, a current electrical bill, property tax records or voter precinct identification card).
Children must be four years old by September 1 to apply for Pre-Kindergarten spots, and must apply at the school they will attend.
Kindergarten Registration
Parents are encouraged to register their Kindergarten age child during this period – February 1 through April 3 - since many will be enrolling for school for the first time and early registration avoids the rush of registering near the start of the new school year.
Kindergarten classes in Coweta County Elementary schools are open to all Coweta children who will be five years old by September 1.
Lunch Visitor Reminders
Each year, we are made aware of more students with life-threatening food allergies and food related diseases. Therefore, please be reminded of our lunchroom procedures:
o For parents visiting, you should sit at the middle table with your child. Your child will be allowed to bring one – two friends with them (barring no allergies are an issue).
o We love to celebrate birthdays! However, due to a lot of dietary restrictions of some of our students, we ask you to let the teacher know that you plan to bring in a treat. All treats are done in the lunchroom during the last 10-15 minutes of the students’ lunch. The advanced notice allows us to provide an alternative to those that cannot partake in your particular treat.
At any given time, we could have over 200 students in our lunchroom. To keep peace and order, we have worked with your child and their class to follow these procedures:
o Stay in your seat and raise your hand if you need something.
o When the music is off (5 minutes alternating), talk quietly with the person to either side or in front of you.
o When the music is playing (5 minutes alternating), we are quiet and focused on eating our meal.
o Do not share food with your classmates (again, for allergy reasons as well).
