Ukraine Crisis
Christine Foley
The unrest began when the eastern part of Ukraine decided to define itself as part of Russia, and the western part defined itself as a part of Europe. President Yanukovych sided with Russia because he has economic ties, and has fled to the east because he has more support there. The protestors are the insurrectionists who are rebelling against the government. It has escalated because the tension has finally reached a boiling point. Other countries are supporting certain people in this crisis. It will probably end with one part of Ukraine siding with Russia, and the other part will remain it's own country.
