Afterschool Care For 2018-19
With the school year soon to wrap up, it's time to get things in line for afterschool care for the 2018-2019 school term. And with that in mind, here is some information about options for the upcoming the next school year, which starts on August 13.
Enrollment applications will be mailed to all currently enrolled Adventure Time students and incoming TK and Kindergarten families on Friday, May 4. If you are not currently enrolled in Adventure Time and would like to be mailed an application, please call 510-658-7412, ext. 100. Due to licensing regulations, space is limited. Registration is based on first come, first served. Rather than mailing your application, please bring your completed application with the $85 registration fee to the Adventure Time portable. Please call 510-658-7412 x100 if you have questions any questions.
Registration is online only and will fill quickly. You will need an account, so we suggest to create that ahead of time so you are ready to register on Monday, June 11 at 6 a.m. Counselors pick up on the Thornhill playground at 3 p.m. (1:25 p.m. on Wednesdays) and walk the kids to the Montclair Rec Center. They do not pick up at the TK/K dismissal times. It is one flat fee for Monday-Friday with pick up at 6:30 p.m. Returning kids are able to pre-register before June 11.
Registration is open!!! Visit their website for more information and how to register. They pick up the kids in their van and drive to the Oakland location at 5811 Racine Road. Call 510-595-9222 for more information.
The Oakland Symphony is inviting your child to participate in the OUSD Stringfest, which takes place on Tuesday, May 1 at Roosevelt Middle School.
There is a short rehearsal at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7 p.m. The MUSE Orchestra performs a short set at 7, then the OUSD group ending by 8 p.m. at the latest. This is a great event that my students have always enjoyed, and I want to encourage you to have your child participate.
All 4th and 5th grade students received a permission slip to join the concert, and if parents bring their students, a permission slip really isn't necessary.
Ms. Green (4th and 5th grade music teacher)

Pennies For Patients Fundraiser
Our annual Pennies for Patients penny drive to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is still in full swing!
Each classroom will have a box for collecting donations. Please bring in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, dollar coins, and bills of all sizes…Last year, we donated over $900. Let’s get to $1,000 this year!! We’ll run the donation drive into mid-May.
A few Pennies for Patients facts:
- Thornhill is one of hundreds of schools across the nation participating in this donation program.
- Leukemia is a blood disease. It affects the body's production of healthy blood cells.
- Money raised will go towards cancer research, especially for children with leukemia and blood cancer.
- Approximately 17,692 children of all ages in the SF Bay Area are affected by different forms of blood cancer, including leukemia.
- We can help! Every cent counts! Only 7 cents a day can help a patient with his or her doctor visits.
