11th Annual District-wide Food Drive is Underway NOW!
Students celebrated the 100th day of school this week by dressing up as 100-year-olds and donating 100 items of food to the 11th Annual District-wide Food Drive to benefit Second Harvest!

Parkland is ranked #1 going into the playoffs, and will be attempting a "7-peat" of 7 titles in a row! Game time is 6 PM.
February 22 - 26, 2016 is World Language Week at PHS! The 4th Annual World Language Week will promote language learning, increase global awareness, and celebrate diversity and personal heritage. To promote cultural awareness, world languages, and create a stimulating international environment throughout the school, PHS students have created panels that celebrate diversity for PHS classroom doors which will be displayed all week. More events are planned to get students involved in open dialogue and to celebrate cultures from around the world.
Feb 23 School Board Meeting. We will be honoring our School Board during the Annual School Board Recognition Celebration, Administration Center Board Room, 1210 Springhouse Rd, 7 PM.
February 24th is World Read Aloud Day. This day is set aside to celebrate literacy and the right and freedom that all people have to read. Many nations still have thousands of children who cannot read or worse, do not have the right to read. Raise the awareness and close the gap on world literacy.
SMS student makes PMEA District 10 Band Festival!

24 Competition
Elementary students competed in the 24 Competition, a mental math game in which students must use the 4 numbers on their cards successfully in order to reach the target of 24. . Tommy Gilchrist and Sophia Petrocelli both went to the semi-finals and received a silver medal. Noah Mattson and Simone Lin both received a bronze medal. More than 100 students participated from around the region. Joan Krem was the teacher advisor.
Springhouse student Alex Tang is the only middle student to make the PMEA District 10 Band Festival out of 800 in the competition. He is pictured above.
Springhouse Middle School Scholastic Art Award Winners
Established in 1923, The Scholastic Art Awards is the nation’s largest, longest-running, most prestigious visual and literary arts program recognizing accomplishments of students in grades 7 – 12. It is a symbol of excellence that can bolster resumes, college applications and scholarship applications.
Our students competed at the regional level at which approximately 5 – 7% of the over 600 artworks submitted from all schools in the Eastern PA area receive Regional Gold Keys, 7-10 % receive Silver Keys and 10 – 15% receive Honorable Mentions for artwork that excels in 1) Originality 2) Technical Skill & 3) Emergence of a personal vision or voice.

The Parkland School District Education Foundation announced the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Wall of Honor Inductees this week. They will be honored at this year's Foundation Gala on Monday, May 2, 2016, and can be viewed here.
REGISTRATION FOR NEW STUDENTS AT PARKLAND HIGH SCHOOL
Registration for new students entering Parkland High School next fall is scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2016, and Tuesday, February 23, 2016. A snow make-up date is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2016. The evening registration is designated for those students currently residing in the Parkland School District, but not attending Parkland schools. Parents who would like to make a registration appointment should call Parkland High School at 610-351-5610 Ext. 73432 and ask for Mrs. Kris Chenworth, Registrar, or email chenworthk@parklandsd.org.
