Washington Track Meet - May 12th
Washington Track meet
Parents/guardians are welcome to attend the Washington 3rd-5th grade track meet for your child at their designated grade level time. The track meet will be held on May 12th at the Owatonna High School Track. The times are:
3rd Grade - 9am to 10:20
4th Grade - 10:35 to 11:55
5th Grade - 12:10 to 1:30
When your child is done competing, we are asking all family members to leave. We ask that parents come to the visitor (east) side bleachers, wear your mask and respect 6ft social distancing. For the safety of our students, all spectators should refrain from contact with your student(s) during the track meet.
Students will be asked to wear their masks while they are not competing. When they are competing in their event, they will be allowed to take their masks off. Please be respectful of these special stipulations so we can run a safe and fun track meet for all of our students.

PLEASE RETURN ALL LIBRARY BOOKS BY MAY 10TH.
Overdue slips with missing library book information will be sent home with students. Please send back any missing books as soon as possible. If an item(s) has been lost, checks can be made out to Washington School for replacements.

Medication Pick up
Any medication left in the office after June 4th will be destroyed. If you have any questions, please call the health office at 5-7-444-8306 between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Before School Interviews
Before School Interviews 2021-2022 School Year
Owatonna Public Schools is committed to creating strong student and family relationships and fostering a positive first experience. Students in grades K-5 will start next school year on Wednesday, September 1st to allow time for before school interviews to take place.
Before school interviews allow teachers to meet individually for 30-40 minutes with students and parents before the start of the school year. All kindergarten students will sign up for an individual 30-minute interview conference time on either Thursday, August 26th or Monday, August 30th. All students, grades 1-5, will sign up for an individual 40-minute interview conference time either on Thursday, August 26th, Monday, August 30th or Tuesday, August 31st.
Students will meet one on one with their teacher for approximately 40 minutes to learn more about them and assess their reading level. Following the teacher meeting, students will stop at stations to complete FASTBridge reading assessment and school pictures. Students in grades 1st & 4th grade will also complete their vision and hearing screening. The teachers are looking forward to getting to know your child better at the beginning of the year.
Watch for an email to be sent after August 11th with your child’s classroom placement and a link to sign up for an interview time.

Let's Smile coming to Washington School
Friday, May 14th, 2021 Contact Jill Fails, your School Social Worker, to get signed up! Consent forms must be completed, signed, and turned in before dental clinic day to ensure your child may receive dental services.
What you need to know: Clinical preventive dental services provided are for children and adolescents under 20 years old, who are covered by State Insurance: Minnesota Health Care Plans (MHCP) such as MA, South Country Health Alliance, Blue Plus, UCare, or uninsured.
Patients participating in our program who are enrolled in a state assistance programs will have their services billed to insurance and the unpaid portion will be paid by grant funding. If patient is uninsured, Let’s Smile, Inc. utilizes grant/donation funding to cover the cost of their services. Let’s Smile, Inc. does not bill families for dental services.
If patient is covered by private dental insurance or additional/supplemental health insurance plans, please use other dental offices. If patient has received preventive dental services within the last 6 months, patient is up to date according to dental standards, therefore is not due.
Your child will receive preventive dental care by a Collaborative Registered Dental Hygienist including:
- Basic Dental Screening to assess for broken enamel on teeth, detect infections in gum tissues, check for oral cancer, and inspect for the proper development of teeth.
- Dental cleaning: removal of oral plaque, calculus, stains, and bacteria that cause cavities and oral infections
- Fluoride varnish application to strengthen the enamel of teeth to prevent cavities
- Sealants: when applied to chewing surfaces of molars, help to prevent cavities
- Oral Hygiene Instructions
- Nutritional Counseling regarding oral health
- Take home toothbrush
- Take home toothpaste
- Take home floss
- Take home mouth rinse
- Referrals as needed for follow up dental treatment
