Murwood Weekly eNewsletter

Principal's Message
We have had quite an eventful week at Murwood. Unfortunately, our beautiful Valley Oak has fallen. The tree service began removal of the tree this morning.
It seems that Murwood is in an area that may not be effected by the power outage, but we have a plan if we are effected. Please continue to look for emails from our superintendent, as she will keep us informed of any changes.
Walk and Bike to School Day was a huge success! Thank you to all of our amazing parent volunteers for making this happen. It was great to see so many families walking and biking to school today and being welcomed by our Mayor Silva.
Leadership
4th and 5th graders are invited to participate in Leadership group. The informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16th. Students will need to complete the application and return it to the office by Friday, October 18th. This is a great chance for students to grow in leadership and community service experience.
Global Read Aloud
Our school is participating in the Global Read Aloud. Our students are participating in an author study, enjoying read alouds of books from author Yuyi Morales. This week students are reading Just a Minute: Trickster Tales and Counting Book and decorating pinatas during library visits.
Next week's read aloud is:

Notes From The Office
Parents, it is important that we have the most up-to-date information on file for your child in case we need to contact you for an injury, illness or other emergency. If you have moved (residency verification required), changed phone numbers, place of employment, physicians, etc., please make sure you notify the office. Also, please make sure your emergency contacts are up to date and that we have the names of all persons who are allowed to pick up your child. As a reminder, parents or anyone picking up a student will need to show ID when signing them out.
