Year-End Wrap Up: Congratulations 8th Grade, Welcome incoming 6th Grade

Happy Summer Break! We wish all of our 8th Graders the best of luck in high school, and look forward to meeting our new 6th graders. Here are a few fun highlights from May, and some info for incoming students. You can also find updated info as usual at davidsenptsa.org

8th Grade Dance 2022

Last weekend we celebrated our 8th Graders at the 8th Grade Dance. Our amazing 8th Grade Committee fully transformed cafeteria into moonlit banquet hall and dance floor with a DJ who kept everyone dancing for hours. We'd like to thank Principal Arena, Assistant Principal Williams, and all of the parents and teachers who volunteered who helped host this very special night.

Yearbook signing and 8th Grade Slide Show

In addition to creating the 2022 Yearbook, Ms. Mikhail and the Yearbook class also compiled images from the year to make a really fun to watch 8th Grade slideshow which was shown at the Yearbook signing on Monday (who needed a tissue?). The private link to the video is here.

6th Grade Bridge Camp: July 19-20

We are excited to meet our new sixth graders! To get acquainted with Davidsen Middle School, all rising 6th graders are encouraged to attend 6th Grade Bridge Camp, a two day camp that will prepare them for the transition into middle school. Students will enjoy campus tours, meet teachers and peers, play team building activities, and ask whatever questions they have about what to expect. 6th Grade Bridge Camp this year will be Tuesday and Wednesday, July 19-20, 2022 from 8am-12pm at Davidsen Middle School. Bridge Camp attendees must have their own transportation. Please register your child for Bridge Camp here. Questions about Bridge Camp may be directed to Mrs. Brandi Kane

More May Highlights

Chorus Spring Concert

The DMS Chorus performed their Spring Concert on May 2 in the DMS Cafeteria and entertained parents with songs from Suessical, Moana, and Hairspray. The audience was also treated to a great showcase of amazing solo performers. This was the very first Spring Concert with Ms. Pilkington and also the first time it was held on the DMS campus. Bravo singers!

Band Spring Concert

The DMS band returned to the stage for their first in-person Spring concert since 2019! The 6th graders impressed the audience with what they've learned in a few short months, and the 7th graders had a fun video surprise for the audience. Symphonic and Jazz bands played some great musical selections, and everyone got together for the grand finale by playing the Star Wars Theme in honor of, you guessed it, May 4th. A great time was had by all!

Orchestra Field Trip

The DMS Orchestra played their Spring Concert in April and celebrated the end of the year with a fun trip to see the Florida Orchestra perform at Ruth Eckerd Hall this month.

Culinary students spent a lot of time learning about preparing and making breakfast items this month and rewarded themselves with Healthy Breakfast, restaurant style!

Ms Hesson wanted to show off some of her Spanish I students' last projects of the year too!

Ms. Coffee took the opportunity to take students outside for some fresh air between exams.
