What is Melanoma?
Melanoma is a type of cancer that develops on your skin cells. This means that it typically only develops on the skin and no where else. This cancer commonly occurs on the legs and back. There are also many ways that one may develop this type of cancer.

There are many ways one can get Melanoma. There are also many signs that may indicate this disease. One way to develop this disease is to be exposed to the sun. A sign of this disease is if you have a certain type of mole. Another way to get this disease is if you do indoor tanning. One last cause of Melanoma is if you burn easily in the sun.
The Statistics of Melanoma
The number of people who have Melanoma has increased over the past few years in the USA. Between 2013 and 2014 there were approximately 24,000 deaths due to Melanoma. Also, during that time 76,690 people were diagnosed with this skin disease .The level of people diagnosed with Melanoma increases by 2 percent every year in America. Over 5 million people were treated for Melanoma this year alone.
How You can Help
Melanoma can not be cured because it leaves a huge risk of reoccurrence, but we can still help those who have this cancer. One way you can help people with this cancer is to learn more about their diagnoses and provide them with information that may be helpful. Also you can organize support groups to raise money to help people with Melanoma recover. Another way to help people with this cancer is to sell candy or lemonade to raise and donate money for their recovery.

Jacob's Heart is a support group that helps kids and adults with any type of cancer. They hold fundraisers to donate money to help them be cured or recover from their cancer.
