Carver Elementary School
Principal Message- March 23, 2020
Dear Families,
As I communicate with you today, it is with a variety of emotions as our school, our community, our Commonwealth and our world face unprecedented challenges with the continuing spread of the Coronavirus. It is incredibly difficult to be in this place of the unknown right now as parents and guardians of children- no matter the age. I will tell you, as an administrator it is challenging, as there is no guidebook to tell me how to do this in the best way possible. One thing is for sure, we are in this together and we will get through it together.
Since we last had our students with us in school on Thursday, March 12, we have all been trying to process and reflect on this entire situation. We want you to know that the health and safety of our students, staff and community is our utmost concern.
By now, many of our teachers have connected with you or your children. I greatly appreciate the partnership you have with your child’s teacher. Your positive relationship will help to make things smoother for your child.
As you all heard from Superintendent Knief this past Friday, at this time, the Carver Public Schools are still scheduled to be closed through Monday, April 6th with all students returning to school on Tuesday, April 7th. However, in the event the Governor decides to extend the closure, we are making plans to develop a more formalized online learning plan for Carver Elementary students. If you have not done so yet, please take a few minutes to complete the survey that our Superintendent sent out last week.
We will be sending you more information in the coming days. In the meantime, even though these days have been trying, I hope you are doing your best to keep a positive attitude, watch some good documentaries with the kids, read to them, have them read to you, but mostly enjoy your time with them. The teachers, staff and administrators are available to help and while we may not have all the answers, we will work through them and respond to you.
One more thing, Ms. DeMarsh and many of the Carver Elementary staff have been coordinating a caravan through the town of Carver. The caravan has been moved to today beginning at 1PM. Check the CES Facebook and Twitter page for the route.
Please reach out to me at maestasr@carver.org if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Ruby C. Maestas

Caravan Announcement
With our school closing so abruptly, the Carver Elementary School community never had a chance to say goodbye to one another. We don’t want to wait until our school reopens to see our students. The Carver Elementary School Teachers and Staff will be having a caravan around Carver on Tuesday, March 24th. We will be leaving from Carver Elementary school at 1:00 pm. The route with estimated times will be posted below. In addition to the planned route, we will be driving through a number of alternative parking areas around town so that families who do not live on the route or who live on busier streets will be able to safely enjoy the caravan. We ask that you follow the guidelines below:
Do not approach the teacher’s/staff cars
When going to a meeting place, please either wave from your cars or adhere to the recommended social distance of at least 6 feet from other families
Cars should line up around/near the perimeter of the lot when going to the meeting places so the caravan can safely drive by
Children who live on the route should remain safely on the sidewalk or within their yards as the caravan passes and an appropriate social distance from other families/friends
Cars will be marked with the teacher’s/staff names
We can’t wait to see the kids!!!!
