Academy of the Arts at Bransom

August 28-September 1 (Days 6-10)

A Note From Your Principal

Academy of the Arts families, I hope this finds everyone settling into the routine of the school year. I think most students returned for their second week of school with a pretty positive attitude. I will have to admit that I heard a lot of teachers say that they took a couple of naps this past weekend to recover from week #1 and prepare for week #2.

As you can image, we are very interested in making sure all students are present and accounted for each and every morning. Classes begin at 7:45 and all students are expected to be in their seats at that time. After 7:45, your child can be counted tardy. Please make sure to plan your drop off your child between 7:15AM and 7:30AM. This will guarantee your child will be ready for a great day of learning. Of course the gym is open with adult supervision beginning at 7:15AM. Some announcements will be made from the gym but pledges and our mission statement will be recited everyday and a Moment of Silence will be honored in each classroom.

Before I close I want to let each of you know that as a campus we will teach many things and perform many performances this year. We have several goals that we will reach throughout the year. But the #1 goal is for every student to reach their highest potential. We are committed to doing everything in our power to see every child read on or above their grade level. This goal may seem lofty for some but with the Academy of the Arts at Bransom community, it can be done. This community includes YOU! I hope that you understand the importance of reading EVERY DAY with your child. Young or old, male or female, on level or not, students will benefit from parents and family getting involved in their academic achievement. When a student reads on level, the achievement level rises in all other areas. Better Reader=Better Scientist, Better Mathematician, Better Debater, Better Problem Solver, Better Thinker.

We are looking forward to a great year and great accomplishments. Stay tuned for more to come.

Last week a notice was sent home to Academy of the Arts families about one of our families who is actively participating in the collection of items needed for senior citizens in the devastated areas by the Texas coast. We are a collection stop for these items. We are also collecting other items for other citizens a well. Just bring the items by at any time during business hours and we will take it from there.

The Essential 55

Ask most of our students and they will tell you that Bransom Bobcats are RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, ACCOUNTABLE PROBLEM SOLVERS! "The Essential 55" is a collection of actions we can perform that will build our capacity to be more RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, ACCOUNTABLE PROBLEM SOLVERS. Each morning, students are reminded of a couple of the "essentials" so in case you hear your child say, "Yes, ma'am" or "No, sir" when you were not expecting it, that might be why. Your child might start looking you in the eye when you're talking to them. Your child might even congratulate you when you win a game. Don't be surprised by your child's good behavior. Reward them with a hug and tell them how much you appreciate their good work. Celebrating EFFORT is as important as celebrating accomplishments.

Important information about after-school clubs will be coming home very soon. We will be finalizing the clubs very soon - sponsors, days, times, and fees. Information will be sent through our email system so keep an eye out for some fun learning opportunities.
