April 22, 2024 Earth Day/Good Citizenship Day
As Earth Day approaches, we're reminded of the critical role each of us plays in preserving our planet for future generations. This year, let's embrace the spirit of good citizenship and take meaningful action to protect and nurture our environment. Together, let's embrace our responsibility as stewards of the Earth and work towards creating a sustainable future for all. By practicing good citizenship and making conscious choices every day, we can make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our planet, community and our school.
Show your dedication to being a GOOD CITIZEN of our planet, Riverside schools and community by rocking your RAMS colors on Monday, April 22, Earth Day!
April 22, 2024 is EARTH DAY! Let’s demonstrate GOOD CITIZENSHIP of our planet, community and school by doing what we can to make a difference:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Commit to reducing your waste by reusing items whenever possible and recycling materials that can be processed into new products (like plastic film that is made into TREX lumber!).
Conserve Energy: Be mindful of your energy usage at home and at school. Turn off lights and appliances when not in use, close doors and windows when heat or air conditioning is on.
Participate in Cleanup Activities: Organize or participate in cleanup events in your neighborhood, parks, beaches, or waterways. Removing litter and debris not only improves the aesthetic appeal but also prevents harm to wildlife and ecosystems.
Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors and reconnect with the natural world. Take leisurely walks, go hiking, camping, or simply enjoy picnics in green spaces to foster a deeper appreciation for the environment.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS!
Handing out HAPPY!
Passing out the POSITIVE!
Thank you!
The Kind Kiddos in Kindness Club meet at least once a month and participate in activities to promote kindness and positivity throughout RMS and the community. Check out Kindness Club's past and present photos!
Fun School Counselor fact:
We are NOT called Guidance Counselors any longer, we are School Counselors.
In the past, the title "Guidance Counselor" was used to describe counselors working in a school. Their role was primarily focused on "guiding" students to post-secondary education and scheduling, Guidance Counselor is an outdated term.
A lot has changed, and today's School Counselors have master's degrees in counseling and use national standards to cover concepts in 3 domains; Academic Development, Career Development, and Social/Emotional Development.
The title "School Counselor" today recognizes that counselors address the needs of the whole student and are proactive, data-informed leaders in the school community.
