Message from Mrs. Kilday
I hope this email finds you all well.
Today I am writing to you to share my appreciation for some very special people in our school; our teaching staff and specialists and our school nurse, Nurse Bailey. This week is both Teacher Appreciation Week and School Nurse's Week. Where to begin; how can I possibly truly express my deep gratitude and appreciation for these amazing people. Every year we acknowledge this special week, but this year more than ever before, we need to thank them for all they have done. I am immensely proud to work with each and every one of them. Their commitment to your children and the compassion with which they embrace each day humbles me beyond words. I have witnessed them push forward through challenging times so that they can be there for each other and for our students. I could not ask for more from our staff. They have given so much of themselves this year and for that I am deeply appreciative. I hope they feel that message this week and every day going forward.
So, to all of our staff; YOU ROCK! You are amazing people doing amazing things! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Donna

Family Engagement
As always, do not ever hesitate to reach out to any of us if you have any concerns or challenges with, or about, your child. Parenting is hard and parenting during a pandemic...well, let's just say WOW!
Curriculum Corner
During our Animal unit, which is coming very soon, the children will be counting and grouping and comparing sets of animals with common attributes; how they move, where they live etc. We will be reinforcing the isolation of beginning sounds in words and diving into questions like; how do animals use their habitats to help them, why do animals live where they do and how do we interact with the animals in our environment. This unit has quite a bit of exposure to non-fiction texts which is very important for preschoolers to engage with. We will learn that some books give us information about things that are real and others tell us stories that are not real. Of course we can learn from both!
The STEAM Connection
The month of May began this weekend, so that means it is time for a new issue of The STEAM Connection!
The theme this month is Space--the International Space Station, the Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and a STEAM challenge of building a "space capsule" to safely land on Mars. You may be thinking that this content is too advanced for our students. Trust me when I tell you that Space is one of their favorite units of study! Make sure you take some time to study the moon this week.
