Not many sleeps whanau....

It is fabulous to see some sun today. Both Puke Haupapa and Pouaakai have had their respective Big Day Out or In this week.

Panitahi and Waiongana iti have also had their exciting days together.

It was awesome to see the smiles on their faces as the teams celebrate a final get together.

Thanks to the staff who made these events happen for the kids, they have had lots of fun.

REACH Celebration Day

We are excited to celebrate ALL of our children here at IPS today. There are various celebration activities planned where ALL children participate.

Many thanks to the REACH Reps and Whaea Mel for organising the afternoon of activities. The celebrations start at 12 noon. Thank you again to the fantastic staff who have worked hard to hold this event.

Dinner Dance

Last Friday we held our annual Dinner Dance with a difference. The event was absolutely stunning and enjoyed by all whom attended. Please remember if you have a child in Year 8 and would like some photos, please send a named USB stick to school and we will get the photos to you.

A HUGE thank you to ALL the staff who ensured our Y8's graduated in style, ESPECIALLY our Puke Haupapa staff - outstanding.

2022 Structure

We have nearly finalised the placements of children for 2022. We have a meet the new 2022 teacher opportunity for ALL current and ALL new students to IPS on Tuesday 14 December at 2pm. Please note with a school our size, classes are not easy and we take the time to consider placements. Thank you for appreciating this in advance.

As said last week, with our exciting new teaching and learning spaces now on site, we are very delighted to further develop our whanau spaces. We are further embedding our sound researched-based learning (pedagogical) practices which truly incorporate our REACH values here at IPS.

We are having five whanau teams: Panitahi, Puke Haupapa, Tokomaru, Pouakai and Waiongana iti.

First Day Back 2022 - Tuesday 1 February

We love our new way of strengthening our home-school partnership.

We start this off with a “Learning Transition Partnership Day” which will be Tuesday1 February.

On this day we will be having 15 minute slots with each student and family in their homeroom class.

This time slot is about informing the 2022 teacher of anything they will need to know about your child, socially, wellbeing, learning difficulties, or special talents and skills they may have. We will learn about your child’s and family’s strengths and ideas you may have to contribute to learning opportunities at school.

Our teachers will be focussed on each family, listening and planning for a successful 2022. We encourage all families to attend, even if you or your child knows their 2022 teacher. Our feedback from 2021 has highlighted that this is a fantastic opportunity to have a positive transition into our new school year. We look forward to seeing you.

Further information on how to book will be available next week.

2022 Enrolment Zone Applications

Enrolment at Inglewood School is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available on the school website or from the school office. All applications must be received by 3pm 25 January 2022 for Term 1 2022. If a ballot for out of zone places is required, it will be held on 27 January 2022. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held. The board is now inviting applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at Inglewood Primary School starting within Term 1 2022. The board has determined that 20 places from Year 1-8 are likely to be available for out-of-zone students within Term 1 2022. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone. The application form for enrolment is available from the school website, or from the school office. Please note, that if the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held. Karen Patterson Principal

New Student Management System Edge Mobile App

This week we have started using a new Student Management System called 'Edge'. The Edge App has some amazing functions. Some of these functions will not be available until 2022 and we will keep you posted when these can be accessed. In the meantime, please download the app and begin by sending all student absences through the app. Please also delete the "School App" as we will no longer be using this. Any queries, please pop in to the school office or email

Surf lessons for kids and teens!

My name is Karine Bödeker and I offer surf lessons for kids and teens at Fitzroy beach. I am a certified level 1 ISA surf coach and owner of New Plymouth Surf School.

Surfing is a great way for kids to learn about the ocean and gain new skills. Children from 7 years old can learn how to surf in a safe and fun way. For the kids surf groups, there is one instructor per 4 or 5 children, depending on the conditions. Therefore I am able to provide personal coaching for every little surfer. The kids surf lessons are always held in the white water waves, close to the beach. My goal is to make your kids happy and introduce them to surfing in a safe way. The lesson is approx. 1 hour water time and it takes almost 1,5 hours in total. Wetsuit and surfboard are included. Cost: $45 per person per lesson. Location: Fitzroy beach.

To book a lesson, please get in touch with Karine Bödeker 0273075842,
