Husky Happenings
September 16-20
From Mr. Martin
Last Wednesday we had our first ever Husky Family. This is taken directly from our teacher lesson plan for this first activity.
September Focus: Family
These were the Objectives covered on Sept 11:
-To identify the importance of family in our lives.
-To understand what it means to be part of a Husky family.
-To get to know your Husky family members.
Husky Families are small groups of Huskies coming together to have fun, talk about life, learn social, emotional, and character development skills, build relationships, make connections, and more! Fifth graders get to mix with other fifth graders in their Families, and 6th-8th graders mix together in theirs.
Please check the TRMS website calendar to keep up with all upcoming events. The website can be found at: https://www.usd231.com/o/trail-ridge The "EVENTS" are listed in the middle column. Clicking on "See All Events" will allow you to sort events by category.

Zero Reasons Why
Last year the six public school districts in Johnson County, including Gardner Edgerton, joined forces to send a positive message to teens regarding mental health needs. The name of the campaign is Zero Reasons Why. The three main pillars of the campaign are: 1. Reduce the stigma of talking about mental health. 2. Increase education on mental health issues and 3. Increase community involvement along with schools to offer support and education. In order to promote the message, during the week of September 16th every student in grades 5-8 will receive a t-shirt with the campaign logo. We invite all students grades 5-12 to wear the shirts to the Blazer home football game on Friday September 20th to support the Zero Reasons Why theme. In addition, shirts will soon be available for purchase by community members and parents. More information on how to order shirts will soon follow. There are Zero Reasons Why that we should not support our student’s well being and overall health! #zeroreasonswhy
TRMS Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fundraiser
We are starting a fundraiser on September 9th that will run through the month of September in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The funds we raise will help support Childhood Cancer Research and the families that are affected. We will be raising money by selling lemonade at our sporting events(football & volleyball), selling paper lemons during school lunches, & through your donations. Students should be bringing home a flyer with more details. Our goal this year is to raise $1,500 by the end of September! Any amount is appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read about this.
If you have any questions please contact me at kearc@usd231.com.

If your student needs to miss school for any reason, please notify the office. Parents are able to report the absence via Skyward (Family Access). Click on the "Attendance" option on the Menu. Once in the Attendance section, click on "Absence Request." Please make sure to include the reason for your student's absence. This feature will submit an email to the attendance secretary.
This can ONLY be accessed via the PARENT Skyward account. Students do not have access to this feature.
If you need to pick up your student early for an appointment, etc., please call the office when you are on your way and we will call your student to meet you in the office. You must come into the office to sign them out. It is not necessary to sign them back in, as they can do that on their own.
GOING TO THE TRMS GAMES?!
Students should report to cafeteria after school. Student gate fee is $2. You can buy a Spirit Pass for $10 (gets student into every home game for the year) or a family pass. https://www.usd231.com/o/trail-ridge/page/family-pass
Children of USD 231 employees are admitted free.
Typically, 5:30-6pm is a good time to plan on pick-up from most games.
