Hi I am Jordan Jones and I will be your tour guide for today, welcome to the Inspirations of the Westward Movement Museum
Gold Rush
A guy was working for his boss down by the river and found a golden nugget, he shared this excitement with his boss but the secretary overheard and word got out, people moved west because they thought the West was possibly a land of gold, this picture represents the golden nugget found.
Land
People needed more land, for their crops and livestock, they also needed money so they wanted to move West for more land. Also they needed more land for Slaves because of the more jobs and more slaves they had the more land they needed, this picture represents the land they wanted to find.
Rivers
People wanted to move West because there was many rivers. Rivers are a great way of transportation and steam power, also rivers created more jobs such as fishing and trade. During their trip West, they found the Columbia River, and the Missouri River. This river represents the rivers they wanted to find.
Manifest destiny
Manifest Destiny inspired people to go west because people believed that god wanted them to go West and missionaries wanted to spread their religion. This picture represents the missionaries spreading their religion due to manifest destiny.
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase inspired people to go West because Lewis and Clark's journals were filled with new discoveries from their journey of the Louisiana purchase so the people wanted to find those discoveries these journals represent the journals Lewis and Clark wrote in.
