Direct Deposit for Reimbursements to begin this month
To all Mexico School District employees:
In lieu of receiving a paper check for reimbursements from the Mexico School District, your payment will now be sent via electronic transfer and automatically credited to your account at your financial institution. This will be the same process as getting your payroll deposited. You will still complete a travel reimbursement form and submit it to your building secretary; however, once the form is approved at the Board Meeting each month it will be credited to your account and available the next business day. If you should have any questions regarding this process please contact Amber Henderson at 573-581-3773 Ext. 2411.
Lunch Fees and Payment Process Changing for Employees--ACTION REQUIRED BY ALL EMPLOYEES
Administrative Procedure Descriptor Code: EF-AP(1)
FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT - (Meal Charges)
Unless meals are provided at no charge, the district expects students and employees to pay for meals prior to or at the time of receipt. The ability to charge meals is a privilege, not a right, and is subject to the limitations established in this procedure.
Employees
Employees may charge meals only after completing the form provided by the district authorizing the district to withhold the amount of any unpaid charges from the employee's pay. The district will withhold amounts due from meal charges as needed. Employees will be limited to a $25.00 charge. After the charge amount is reached, employees will not be allowed to charge until the amount owed is paid. Any employee leaving the district prior to the payroll deduction period will have the total charge amount deducted from the following pay check. Employees may appeal a deduction for meal charges using the process outlined in Board policy DLB.
Click here for the complete policy. Please note: that employees who will have money payroll deducted will be notified by the Food Service Department prior to the payroll deduction. These deductions will take place at the end of each semester. For questions and more information, please call Joyce Fenner at x2406 or email jfenner@mexico.k12.mo.us .
Board of Education Meeting Recap by Kevin Freeman
Board Meeting Notes
11/30/15
The board had a special meeting Monday night, 11/30/15, with three agenda items. First, they received the results of the telephone survey completed by Patron Insights concerning the various potential facilities projects currently being considered by the district. This survey is available (or will be) on the district website.
Second the board heard from John Brown of the architect firm Hollis & Miller. John discussed the results of the phone survey as they related to the prior work on prioritizing various projects. The board will study the results and discuss again at the December meeting.
Finally, the board took action to rescind the copier bid awarded last month to ImageQuest. This was the result of a bid protest filed by DataComm. The eleven copy machines in question are being re-bid and will be considered again at the December meeting.

Tuition Reimbursement
Here is the new policy passed by our school board to reimburse master's level hours.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Mr. Freeman.
Teachers will need to submit a request in writing to Mr. Freeman FIRST for specific course reimbursement BEFORE you take the course and this could apply to courses starting in January 2016.
After obtaining approval, teachers will then complete the course and provide proof of payment, and proof of earning a "B" or better. In addition, the amount reimbursed will be based on the number of approved teacher requests (demand) - so there's no guarantee of full reimbursement.
Every Student Achieves Act Information now available.
MHS and HCC help 30 families through Adopt-A-Family
MHS and HCC are participating in The Adopt-A-Family program at the Help Center here in Mexico.
At the meeting students, clubs, and organziaitons pick a child and then each club/organization buys the gifts (needed items and a toy that the child has requested) for the child they have chosen. Then the clubs/organizations take the items they bought to the Help Center and the Help Center distributes them to the families. This year the gifts need to be at the Help Center no later than Friday Dec. 11th.
This year the high school and HCC are helping 30 "families" (really kids) through the Adopt-A-Family program. Way to give back!
