Curriculum Based Assessments (CBA) - 9 Week Tests

Students will be taking their CBA tests before the end of the nine weeks. These assessments are used to help us make instructional decisions for each child. They help us to know what skills your child has mastered and what he/she needs to continue to work on. Tests will not be sent home but their progress thus far will be discussed in the October 26th parent conferences. As a parent, you are also always welcome to view their data mastery notebook.

Dates for CBAs are:

Oct. 5 & 6 - 4th Grade Writing

Oct. 12 - 4th and 5th Grade Math

Oct. 13 - 4th and 5th Grade Reading

Oct. 14 - 4th and 5th Grade Science

Oct. 15 - 4th and 5th Grade Social Studies

H.I.S. Career Day - November 19th

Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Friends - We need your help!

We'd like to organize a career day for our kids so that they can see that all the hard work they are putting into their education now pays off down the road. We are creating men and women and want them to be able to have all doors open to them in the future. Please come share what you do so that they can see what types of careers are out there.

Please contact Shannon Black sblack@hisd.com or Kimber Rice krice@hisd.com if you would like to help.

A Note From the Nurse

Vision & Hearing screenings are happening for 5th graders.

Also, time is running out for the students who need to complete vaccination series or turn in current affidavits. Call Mrs. Aldredge at ext 2539 if you have questions.
