Walk-a-Thon!

Our 10th Annual Walk-A-Thon will be happening during the school day on Thursday, September 22nd. Students are asked to collect pledges from family members and friends the next 2 weeks leading up to the Walk-A-Thon, with the chance to earn prizes, including gift cards, gift baskets, and lunch with Mr. Tudor! Pledge envelopes went home with students yesterday, and the first day for money turn-in is Friday, 9/16. Be sure to turn in early to be eligible for both drawing days! Start getting pledges today to help us reach our $20,000 goal!

If you would be interested in volunteering to help with the Walk-a-Thon, please email Carrie Dippold at cdippold@yahoo.com. Parents are welcome to join our staff and students as they walk.

Our students will walk at the following times:
5th Grade - 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. - Rooms: 53, 54, 55, 56
5th Grade - 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. - Rooms: 16, 17, 18, 19
5th Grade - 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. - Rooms: 10, 11, 12, 13
5th Grade - 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. - Rooms: 3, 4, 5, 6
6th Grade - 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. - Rooms: 41, 42, 43,45
6th Grade - 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. - Rooms: 20, 21, 22, 23
6th Grade - 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. - Rooms: 24, 25, 26, 27
6th Grade - 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. - Rooms: 33, 35, 36, 37

Parent Lunch

Although you are welcome any day to have lunch with your child, during the week of September 12th we will be having a special time for you to join your child for lunch. It is an opportunity for you to spend some time with your child and his or her classmates.

Absentee Picture Day

On Monday, September 19, 2016 there will be an Absentee Picture Day for students and staff who did not have their picture taken at Gear up for Greene. This is not picture retake day. We will have picture retakes on October 24.

Fuel up to Play 60 Challenge!!

We will be starting our new "Fuel UP to play 60" Challenge on September 22nd!! Students are invited to record the number of minutes they exercise each day for 4 weeks to earn prizes. Exercise can be any physical activity -- walking, running, dancing, and basketball, with an organized team or on your own. Students should use their efforts during the Walk-A-Thon to get things started! Information will be included in your child's green envelope next week. Look for a flyer with a calendar to record the type of activity and number of minutes for the challenge, as well as information about Fuel up to play 60 in general.


We will also be having an action photo contest! We invite you to submit photos of active kids doing amazing things! If your student would like to participate in the photo contest, photos should be submitted to jennifer@bainonline.net. Photos will be judged by a school panel, and the winning photographs will be enlarged to poster size and hung in the cafeteria/gym hallway. All materials are due by Oct. 31st.

PTO Membership and Directory

Your child should have brought home a form this week displaying the information that will be printed for your student in the Directory, and also letting you know whether your family has joined the PTO and ordered a Student Directory. If you are happy with your listing, there is no need to return the form. If you would like to make changes to your listing, or would like to join the PTO, please make changes on the form and return it to school by next Friday, September 16 along with your $10 PTO membership fee. As an alternative, you may also join and pay for PTO membership online (http://ehg.3dcartstores.com) and update your Student Directory listing online (http://bit.ly/ehg1617). You may send any Directory questions to Wendy Andersen (wendy@shineyoga.com).

Box Tops for Education

Please begin clipping and mark your calendars for our fall Box Tops collection, October 3 - 7. The wing in each grade that collects the most box tops will receive an extra recess! Students should please turn Box Tops in to their homeroom teacher. For more information including a list of participating products, visit www.boxtops4education.com.

More Clubs Starting Soon!

After School Boys Basketball. Permission slips are now available in the activity bins by the front office. Basketball begins on Tuesday, September 20th. Teams are randomly selected each session and there are a limited number of spots available. Turn in your permission slips to Mr. Kelly in room 22 or Mr. Sandor in room 56.



Bowling-Permission slips for the fall session of bowling are now available in the activities bin located by the back door of the front office (by the pass window). Bowling will be held on Thursdays, beginning September 29th. Turn in signed permission slips to Miss Davis in Room 42 or the front office by Thursday, September 22nd.


Chess Club-Permission slips for Chess Club are now available in the activity bins by the front office. Chess club will begin after school at 2:50 on October 4th, 2016. Signed permission slips can be given to Mrs.Dream or turned in to the front office.
