Joseph and Blendy's Announcement

Save your soil

Problem

The drought is when there is no rain, the plants are drying, and dying. The dust bowl is like a dust storm. You should save the soil by planting peanuts. Peanut plants are legumes which are small lumps on there roots that contain nitrogen fixing bacteria. These bacteria are an important nutrient available in a form that plants can use.

Solutions

Soil conservation : Is the management of soil to prevent it's destruction.

Contour plowing : Farmers plow their fields along the curves of a slope. This prevents the soil from washing away.

Conservation plowing : Dead weeds left in the ground help return soil nutrients, retain moisture, and hold soil in place.

Crop rotation : Each year the farmers grow many different crops. Different crops absorb different of nutrients from the soil, such as corn, cotton, oats, barely, and rye.
