5th Grade Band Notes
November 21, 2016
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a perfect opportunity for your child to bring their instrument and play a little concert for the family. Ask them to play a few songs for you- the big songs we have been working on are Jingle Bells, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, and Up on the Housetop.
No After-School Band tomorrow, November 22nd
First Concert: Wednesday, December 21st
The fifth grade band will present their first concert very soon on Wednesday, December 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the Schiesher Elementary Large Gym! Students should plan to arrive in the small gym/cafeteria at 6:00 pm.
Students are asked to wear “dress clothes” for the performance. Try to avoid jeans, sweats, and gym shoes. Seasonal colors are encouraged! Students can certainly wear Santa hats or other similar fun attire if they wish.
The students have been working hard and this first concert is always one of the highlights of the school-year. More specific information about the concert will be e-mailed out in December. We usually have an ice cream party at McDonalds after our first concert and I am looking for a parent that can be in charge of that. Could you please let me know if you would be willing to help out?
What to Practice
1) Their blue holiday sheet- Jingle Bells, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, Up on the Housetop, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas
2) Songs from their red book- #17, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 27
