Canadian Student Debating Federation
“The Canadian Student Debating Federation is the umbrella organization for student debate at the high school level in Canada. We sponsor the annual National Student Debating Seminar, oversee the Canadian National Team, promote debate throughout the country, and tie the various provincial debate organizations together in a national community.” (csdf-fcde.ca)
CSDF facilitates and funds national debate events and supports provincial organizations with their hosting responsibilities. SEDA draws much of its strength and community from its partnership with the CSDF. Most recently, SEDA had the privilege of hosting the training camp for the Canadian Worlds Debating Team. Having the training camp in Saskatoon allowed some Saskatchewan debaters and coaches to witness high level debating and training.
Willis S. McLeese Opportunities Fund Grant
The Mcleese Opportunities Fund has been active in promoting and supporting debate nation-wide for many years and is administered by the CSDF. Grants are given to Debate Associations to support projects that expand debate programming. This regular contribution allows SEDA in turn to continually promote debate across the province, keep it affordable and accessible and to focus on the core of our mandate, excellence in programming.
