Class Assignments are Finally ready!

You will receive an email today by the end of the day from Anne Sweeny our attendance secretary. In this email, we will confirm whether we have you enrolled for remote or in-person learning, your child's teacher's name, as well as links to sign-up for orientation days on Monday, August 24 or Tuesday, August 25 and assessment days for Kinder-3rd grade students.

We're supposed to start on Monday and I don't know what to do! (In-Person Learners)

Don't worry. We will support you through all of this. Teachers will reach out by noon on Friday with a video introducing themselves and explaining a few of the basics for the year. That email will also include:

  • a small assignment that students should plan to complete on Monday or Tuesday when they are not at school for in-person orientation.
  • the link to the live Google Meet or Zoom Meet for Wednesday morning
  • A basic schedule for the following 2 weeks of remote learning

Once students come to Stott for orientation, teachers will make sure that they know how to log-in, what apps to use, and how to access everything that they need. The first couple of weeks will not be content heavy. Teachers will be focusing on helping students build a classroom community, learning tech tools, and beginning of the year reading and math skills. You can expect students to be required to log-in 2-3 times per day, with small assignments in between.

We're supposed to start on Monday and I don't know what to do! (Remote Learners)

You will also be receiving an email today with the name of your child's teacher. You will not need to sign-up for orientation days or assessment days. Teachers will be working with you and your child to schedule remote assessments during instructional time. Remote teachers will also prepare an introductory video by noon on Friday and will send an email with apps to download and a link for Monday morning meeting. Over the weekend help your child by making sure that the device is charged and that your student can log into the device.

Just like in-person students, teachers will be working to build community and practice tech tools for the first several days. They will send you an outline of a schedule for the first couple of weeks but plan for it to build up to match the schedule below.

Help! My Child Doesn't Know How to Log-In to Their Device

Students in Kindergarten-3rd Grade log in with their student id# and the password is stott123

Students in 3rd-5th Grade log in with their student id# but set their own password, unless they are a new student, in which case the password is stott123. If they can't remember their password, we will be able to reset it for them when they come in for orientation.

Multi-age Classrooms

Student and staff health and safety has been and will continue to be our number one priority as we transition back to school for the fall. The number of both students and staff members who will be in-person in our building has continued to fluctuate throughout the summer. The needs within our building have required us to think creatively about solutions. As a result, all of our in-person classes will be multi-age classrooms this fall. Classes will be K-1, 2-3, and 4-5 multi-age classrooms. The benefit of this is that we can maintain smaller class sizes in our primary grades. An additional benefit is an opportunity for older students to serve as leaders and role models for younger students. The curriculum will still meet grade-level expectations for all students while allowing us to create small groups within the cohort to meet students' individual academic needs.

Device Pick-Up/Exchange

We are working furiously to make sure that all students have the device that they need for remote learning to start on August 24.

August 20, 3-5 pm: Drive-through device pick-up for Kindergarten students and any students who are new to Stott this year. Please also plan to attend if your student is in 3rd grade or 5th grade and you missed the exchange on August 13. If you turned in your device in the spring because you weren't planning to attend Stott and now are returning and need a device, please call the school so we can make sure we have a device ready for you.

This schedule is for all students, regardless of whether they are choosing 100% remote or 100% in-person. Students who have chosen the 100% remote option, will also receive some school materials such as math books and art sketchbooks.

Remote Learning Schedule for students choosing 100% Remote Learning

We have created a sample schedule for what remote learning should look like. Students should plan to be learning from 9-3 most days. Learning does not necessarily mean being online. Lots of work, especially for our younger learners, will include paper and pencil activities, physical movement activities, and many other projects that allow for time off of electronics.

In-Person Bell Schedule

Below are arrival and dismissal times for Stott students. Specific doors will be assigned for entrance as it gets closer to the start of school.

7:50 AM Preschool students arrive

8:05 Students having breakfast at Stott arrive temperature check

8:10 - Daycare and bus students arrive and temperature check

8:15 - Last Names A-M arrive and temperature check

8:30 Last Names N-Z arrive and temperature check

If families carpool, we will work with you to choose one arrival time for entry. We are trying to minimize the number of students entering the building at one time.

2:50 PM Preschool dismissed

3:00 Daycare bus, SAE and preschool siblings dismissed

3:05 Car riders

3:10 Walkers and bus students dismissed

Students may not wait after school for friends. They need to plan a common meeting space to meet parents or siblings in order to quickly leave campus. Students will not be allowed back inside the building after dismissal to pick-up a preschool sibling or get anything that was forgotten.

Beep and Greet!

We are excited to invite you to our first ever Beep and Greet! Since we can't host First Night Stott as we traditionally do, we want to do something else to welcome our students back to school.

On August 21 at 3:00 pm, Stott teachers will line the driveway with their name on a sign. Please drive through the bus loop to beep and wave to your favorite teachers and see if you can spot this year's teacher. All students are invited, whether you have chosen remote learning or in-person learning. See the map below for the route. For those of you with us in the spring, it is the same flow of traffic.
