Big picture

We're starting to see MANY students bundled up each day, which is great! Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Now that we're seeing 30-degree mornings, our students need warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the winter. A Reminder for our Older Comets: A hooded sweatshirt is NOT a coat.

Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) unless the "feels like" temperature is BELOW 10 degrees.

Time outdoors is time well spent for kids in all seasons. Thank you for your help in ensuring that all of our students are properly dressed for safety in the cold.

(Please also take time to label each and every item because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season... See below.)

Is Your Child Missing a Jacket???

Our Lost and Found is getting pretty full again. There are MANY jackets, sweatshirts, and other items. Please feel free to drop in on any school day between 7am and 4pm to take a look if your child is missing anything. Items not claimed will eventually be donated. Thank you!

Picture Retakes

All students who ordered school pictures should have received them at school on Thursday or Friday. Picture Retakes will be on Monday, November 8th. Notes went home last week and can be found here, too.

Twain Spirit Wear Is On Sale!

We are so excited to offer some updated Twain Spirit Wear this year! Paper order forms went home Friday and can also be downloaded and printed using the link below. We are offering 3 design options pictured below this year: an updated Twain Comets design, our Team Twain design for this year's building-wide theme, and our PBIS Mark Twain ROCKS design. The updated Comets logo comes on several colors, and there are many options and items to choose from for each design.

Order Forms and Payment (cash or check made out to Screen and Roll) must be turned in to school by Friday, November 19th. This will ensure delivery before Christmas Break.

Lunch Bunch Kicks Off

We are excited to have Lunch Bunch up and running again this year at Twain! This is offered to some of our Comets during lunch and lunch recess to offer a fun, structured, small-group environment with daily activities led by two teachers each day. Lunch Bunch also offers the opportunity for some of our 2nd - 5th graders to mentor and and be buddies with some of our students from the CCRR classrooms. Thank you to Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Gonsler, Mrs. Fett, Mr. Lentine, Mrs. Cracchiolo, Mrs. Michael, and Mrs. Szeliga for investing this important time with our Comets!

If You Haven't Already, Don't Forget to Set Your Clocks Back One Hour

Daylight Savings Time ended at 2:00am on Sunday, November 7th. Please remember to set yourr clocks back one hour if you haven't yet.

Friendly Reminder: Pet Policy

Though many of us LOVE our furry friends, we ask that you don't bring them to Twain. Here is our Pet Policy as stated in our Twain Elementary Student Handbook:

Pets are not allowed at school during the school day, including arrival and dismissal. There are several reasons pets are not allowed at school; allergies, student anxiety, and disruption are some of our main considerations. We do not want a student, adult, or pet to be injured during our high volume times at school.

Ms. Wozniak sent the most updated quarantine procedures from the Health Department on Thursday, September 30th. If you did not see her email, you may find it HERE.

***Remember, the best way to do YOUR PART to help keep our community healthy and in school teaching and learning is to keep children with any potential sign of illness at home until the cause is determined by a medical professional.***
