Pirates Arrggh Better Together!
Thanks for another great week at Swansboro Elementary. We appreciate all those that contributed to our National Dessert Day celebration and also those that gave for the Wreaths Across America penny drive. We will announce the winning class and the total raised next week.
Tomorrow our Candy Man Fundraiser items will be available for pick up from 2 pm- 5pm in our cafeteria. Please make sure that you pick up your items tomorrow as some items must be refrigerated. We are very please to announce our top winners: 1st- Asher Keast 2nd- MacKenzie & Adalynn Carr, 3rd- Jayden Clagett. These students will receive a gift card for their hard work. Also, for those students that met the criteria, the gaming truck will be here on October 27th. Thank you to all those that supported the our fundraiser, we raised $12, 209.74 .
Please join us on Wednesday October 20th by wearing ORANGE to show support for Unity Day to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.
The following week (Oct 25-Oct 29) we will have Red Ribbon Week. If you would like to start planning your outfits, take a sneak peak in our newsletter (below) for the dress up themes for each day. Also, several parents have asked for gift ideas for their child's teachers, so we have included a link to all of our staff favorites. We are always grateful for any token of appreciation, especially a kind note or email:)
The end of the first grading period will be coming up soon. Please make sure that all make-up work from absences has been completed. All parents are encouraged to enroll in Parent Portal to stay up to date on your child's absences and grades (grades 3-5). If you have concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher before the grades are finalized for the grading period.
Our car rider procedures are going well. Please just remember that any changes to your child's transportation needs to be submitted in School Dismissal Manager. We would also like to remind parents to please be cautious and proceed slowly in the car pool lanes. We want to keep all of our students safe. We ask that you are considerate of others and do not block the lanes. If you need to go into the next grade level over to prevent blocking others, that is just fine.
Congratulations to those students that made our Dreamer's Club. We can't wait to see your production of the Lion King in the spring.
Dreamer's Club 2021-2022: Congratulations!

COMMUNICATION IS CRITICAL for your child's success:
1. The teacher is always the first point of contact. If you cannot resolve an issue after meeting with the teacher, please schedule an appointment to meet with administration.
2. See our data manager (Lori Jones) to sign up for Parent Portal. This gives you up to date info on student attendance and assignments for (3rd-5th grade).
3. Pay attention to the weekly ALL CALL and EMAIL that is sent out every Sunday evening. If you don't want to listen to the message, no worries, the email contains the transcript as well as important links and cute pictures of our students:) If you are not receiving the call and email, please let Lori Jones (lori.jones@onslow.k12.nc.us) know so that we can make sure your info. is up to date. This is the method that we will use to communicate with parents in the event of an emergency, so you need to make sure that you are receiving these calls.
4. Check out our school website: https://www.onslow.k12.nc.us/swansboroes
5. Check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/swansboroelementaryschool/
6. Remember, for safety reasons, we do not give out student information over the phone and all changes in transportation must be done through School Dismissal Manager.
7. If there are custody issues, we must have a copy of the current custody paperwork on file with a judge's signature. If not, both parents have equal access to the student and their educational records.
8. If you have concerns regarding bus routes, stops, schedules and drivers, please direct those concerns to our transportation coordinator Judy O'Donald at 326-1436. SBES does not have direct communication with the buses; therefore, this must go through the transportation dept. Please remember if you would like to stay up to date with bus changes and delays, please download the Edulog Parent Portal App. More info can be found here:https://www.onslow.k12.nc.us/Page/1266.
