Lexie's Gift Prom Boutique
Prom Boutique
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) A local non-profit is making sure every high school student has the opportunity to go to prom. Lexie's Gift unveiled its prom boutique Monday inside the Shoppers Square Mall. Students in need are encouraged to go to the boutique and pick out an entire prom outfit for free.
Founder Barbie Marcoe says after her daughter Lexie two years ago was killed in a car accident, this is her way of keeping Lexie's spirit alive. "She felt everyone should be cute and she felt everyone deserved to be cute. She actually walked along the river and handed out clean clothes so people there felt good about themselves. And as silly as it sounds she wanted people to feel cute and so you know what, we're pretty sure they are going to look around here and feel pretty cute,” Marco explains.
Nearly 2,000 dresses and suits are available, along with accessories. To be eligible for an outfit, students need to show a valid high school ID. The boutique will be on the second floor of Shoppers Square Mall through the end of February on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6pm, and Saturdays 10 to 6pm. For more information, contact lexiesgift@gmail.com or call 775-745-2184 and you can also visit https://www.lexiesgift.com/.
