CALVIN PARK UPDATE
Week of May 25-28, 2021

We hope that you enjoyed the beautiful weather during your long weekend! We would like to share some exciting information about Calvin Park and LCVI. You may have heard that Calvin Park Public School and LCVI are now being considered as a future grade 7-12 site in Limestone. The Limestone District School Board has worked hard to cultivate a collaborative K-12 system. That collaborative visioning has included a move towards consolidated grade 7-12 sites, including Frontenac Secondary School and l’Acadie, Kingston Secondary School and Module Vanier, and the LaSalle Intermediate and Secondary School. The transition to a 7-12 school at Calvin Park and LCVI will begin to take place as we prepare for the 2021/22 school year. Student, staff and community voice will be integral in building a collaborative 7-12 site. On a day-to-day level, Calvin Park will look much the same as we move into the 2021-22 school year. Our classrooms will remain on the second floor and separate from the secondary school classes. The schedule for the Calvin Park Grade 7 and 8 students will remain much the same as well, which allows for separate schedules, breaks, and lunchtimes between the elementary and secondary students. The vision for this transition to a 7-12 school is in the very preliminary stages and we welcome your input along the way. We look forward to creating many innovative and unique possibilities for our Grade 7 and 8 students within a 7-12 structure! We will continue to share information as it becomes available.
As we near the end of May, we continue to be impressed with the commitment of our students and families to virtual learning. Thank you for continuing to support your child at home and helping them to develop routines that maintain a balance between personal wellness and learning. Please continue to reach out to your child's teacher and to our office if you have questions or if we can support you in any way.
Take care and stay well,

PLANNING FOR THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR
IN-SCHOOL MODEL: Elementary schools (Kindergarten to Grade 8) will offer full-time in-person learning. Students will continue to stay in cohorts with their classmates and homeroom teacher. Mask and hand washing protocols will likely be in place. As we have don this year, students will remain in their homeroom classroom and specialized rotary teachers will move from class to class. This model could change based on a variety of factors.
VIRTUAL SCHOOL REGISTRATION: The opportunity to enroll in virtual school is extended until June 4th. Here is the registration link. Please note, if your student will be attending in-person school, no action is required on your part.

Attendance is taken every day and the automated call-out is sent out at around 2:00 p.m. daily.
