December Update
PRINCIPAL NEWSLETTER #10: 2021- 2022 SCHOOL YEAR
Dear Families
RUSD held a district safety meeting yesterday--with the intention of reviewing safety procedures and gathering input from teachers, public works staff, local fire and police departments, parents, board members, and others.
I led a walk-through of Bel Aire and it was great to have other professionals and parents provide their perspective on our plans for keeping students and staff safe. Student safety is my first priority--and I will continue to work with the safety team to improve our practices here at Bel Aire.
________________________________________________________
Next week will be our Bel Aire Winter Fair! See our student council flier below for more information. It's going to be a fun event--thank you to the BA PTA for helping with the crafts, bake sale, and hot chocolate!

STUDENT COVID VACCINATION SIDE EFFECTS and STUDENT ABSENCES REMINDER from our School Nurses:
Students receiving the COVID vaccination may experience side effects within the first 1-2 days including injection site pain, redness or swelling, fever, headache, fatigue, body aches and chills. Symptoms usually only last 1-2 days. If your student's symptoms last longer than 2-3 days, or include a cough, runny nose/congestion, shortness of breath, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell, your student should stay at home and be tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible. If your student is absent due to side effects or symptoms of illness, please remember to notify your site attendance and provide all symptom details as well as whether or not your student received the vaccine recently.
Once your student has received BOTH doses, please send their COVID vaccine record to our nurses: amankin@reedschools.org and sfarasati@reedschools.org.
Thank you!

Adopt A Family
This year we are partnering with Adopt A Family of Marin to support families in our Marin community during the holidays. Adopt A Family of Marin works year round to prevent homelessness and provide stability for families in crisis. The agency acts as a safety net for many families in the County by providing short term financial assistance. This year, Adopt A Family has distributed over $800,000 in financial assistance to families living in Marin County. Every year, with the help of hundreds of donors, Adopt A Family provides a warm holiday for hundreds of Marin families in need. Our hope is that through supporting these local families, we can make a difference in our own community.
Our goal is to fill at least three items from each family member's list. All gifts should be new. Please wrap and label the gift with the family member’s first name. Gifts need to be returned to your child's classroom by Friday, December 10th.

The Bel Aire play is now in full motion with the casts selected and the rehearsals starting! A huge thank you to Carli Hamilton, Megan Pirsch & Lana Burstein for getting this off the ground running so smoothly.
All students are welcome to participate in the Bel Aire Play regardless of payment, however the requested dues for those participating in the play are an integral part of the production of the play. It is with the support of family donations that we are able to sustain this exceptional arts enrichment program for all students. These donations are requested in addition to the parent volunteer commitment.
