From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger

Hello CCA Parents,

Thank You for your patience and support of our teachers, staff, and school as a whole during this school closure due to the CoVID-19 pandemic. With little time to prepare, our teachers have implemented E-Learning for grades 3-8 via the Google Classroom platform along with other support sites and materials. Our teachers in 3K to 2nd grade have also performed admirably with learning packets and several educational websites and shared videos. I am so proud of the passion and dedication these teachers have demonstrated to ensure the high quality of education continues in our school. Our teachers continue to reflect, adjust, and modify the E-Learning process each week to ensure student success. We do understand there has been some frustration experienced at home by both students and parents with this learning curve, but by working together with the teachers, we will all succeed during these trying times.

If at any time, you need assistance, please feel free to contact me and we will do everything in our power to help or direct you to viable resources.

Thank you to all the families who participated in the Buffalo Wild Wings' Home Team Advantage promotion. CCA received bonus checks from Buffalo Wild Wings in the amount of $222.13 this month. This money will be used by Home & School to help pay for busing and field trips.

CCA is once again participating from now until June 14. Please mention "Team D" when you are ordering for CCA to get credit for your food purchases.

Soon, we will be sharing information regarding the Schoolkidz USA school supply kits. This is an optional online ordering service for school supplies for the 2020-2021 school year. The school supplies will be delivered to school in time for the first day of school. The sale will run from May 1 through June 19.

PICK UP DAY THURSDAY, APRIL 30

The next Pick Up Day for parents to pick up learning materials will be on Thursday, April 30 from 4:00-5:00 pm in the CCA parking lot.

This will be for all parents in 3K-2nd grade and any CCA basketball players who have uniforms to turn in. Please turn in basketball uniforms & homework in a zip lock bag with your child's name on it.

Registration forms for the 2020-2021 school year can also be dropped off at this time! Please place in an envelope marked Attn: School Office.

If you have questions, contact your teacher.

Birth Announcement

Congratulations to parents Nick and Tiffany Annis on the birth of their son, Maverick James, on April 11. Maverick is welcomed home by his siblings Vincent (K) and Charles (3K).

SPIRIT DAYS

During this school closure, we thought it would be fun to have Spirit Days at home where students and parents are able to share pictures of them participating in fun activities. These spirit days are optional! See the flyer below for a list of the upcoming dates.

CoVID-19 Update

I would like to share information regarding the CoVID-19 and the impact for the Christ Child Academy community. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is in the planning stages for how CoVID-19 could impact the overall implications to schools within the Archdiocese and of the State as a whole.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the risk to the American Public for those not exposed to CoVID-19 is low. However, the situation is rapidly evolving, and we will do our best to keep you appraised. The CDC and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services are providing daily updates on their websites:

· CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

· WI DHS: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/outbreaks/index.htm

Symptoms:

Symptoms of CoVID-19 are similar to the seasonal flu, and include:

· Fever

· Cough

· Shortness of breath

We know that a student has the greatest opportunity to learn when he or she is present in school. We need to make sure that students and parents understand it is acceptable, actually preferable, that they stay home when sick. Health trumps attendance.

Please refer to the attached document titled, “When To Keep Your Child Home” which are recommendations from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health.

Prevention strategies for students and parents:

· Practice good hand washing, wash hands in warm water for at least 20 seconds while scrubbing with soap.

· Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.

· Use a tissue when coughing or sneezing and properly dispose of it or cough into your elbow/sleeve if a tissue is not available.

· Do not touch your mouth, nose or eyes. If you do, wash your hands immediately.

· Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces in your home including doorknobs, light switches, computer keyboards, laptops, and cell phones.

We will continue to update the Christ Child Academy community as the need arises.

2020-2021 Registration Information

Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is now open to all current and new families on a first come, first serve basis.

Please take advantage of our Student Referral Program! Download the forms below. See program handout for full details.

Safeguarding All God's Family

If parents or grandparents plan to participate in field trips, work in the lunchroom, coach, or help out at school, you must attend a Safeguarding All God’s Family training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. You must register on-line at www.archmil.org and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.

A Note from the CCA Athletic Committee

The CCA Athletic Committee Brat Fry scheduled for Saturday, April 25th at Miesfeld's has been cancelled.

Standards Based Grading

During this school year, Christ Child Academy will be transitioning from a traditional grading system to standards based grading system, which will go into effect for the 2020-2021 school year. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has strongly recommended that all schools move to this reporting framework.

As we proceed through this transition over the next year, please know that our goal of academic excellence remains our priority. These "best practices" will enable parents to fully understand where their child is academically while at the same time motivating students to become life-learners.

The Parenting Guide to Standards Based Grading will provide valuable insight during this transition. Additional information will be coming in the following weeks.

SCRIP

Scrip is available 24/7/365 at www.glscrip.com and use CCA enrollment code 56477C7B4536 to get started. Contact Brenda Binversie, binversies@gmail.com with any questions.

The 2019 CCA Annual Fund appeal continues. Please support our school and share the link below often.

Your generous gift to the Christ Child Academy Annual Fund makes a difference in the lives of our students. The funds raised will provide excellent academic and athletic programs, curriculum materials, and technology for both the students and staff; it will ensure the ability to carry out our school’s mission on a daily basis. Your gift will also enable us to maintain affordable tuition for all families.

You received an Annual Fund Contribution Form in the mail in November to donate or you may visit our online site at the link below. Feel free to share this link with all your friends and family via social media.

Our school provides a comprehensive curriculum in the areas of spiritual, academic, character, and social growth. Our students are God’s own children. Each is infinitely valuable and lovable.
