The First Day of School is August 3rd
Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!
Dear PPPS Families,
I am so excited to get the new school year started! This year at Pinnacle Peak we'll continue to strive for excellence and be Passionate, Purposeful and Productive. One new tool we will be using is Leader in Me. This program helps our staff and students focus on their work through the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Watch for Leader in Me focus points in my weekly newsletters this year!
We are excited to welcome students, families, and volunteers back in to the building. We had some projects done over the summer including new carpet in all classrooms, security cameras, door locks, smoke detector systems, and security gates around many of our building access points. All of these projects were made possible by tax payer supported bonds, so thank you all!! We look forward to you seeing the changes at our Meet The Teacher Open House on August 2nd from 8:15-9:30am.
Please read carefully through this newsletter as there is a lot of important information, especially for families new to Pinnacle Peak.

Cell Phones and Smartwatches at School
The presence of mobile phones for social use is known to have a negative impact on learning. The mere presence of a cell phone can undermine a student’s ability to focus, dividing his/her attention. This distraction reduces a child’s ability to engage with learning tasks and focus on the lessons presented. When we overtax the working memory by providing distractions, learners are unable to process all of the information presented.
**If you need to contact your child during the school day please contact the office and we will either get them the message or connect you with them.
When we are on campus, cell phones must be kept in backpacks throughout the day. We ask that during class, students turn off cell phones keeping them out of sight and out of mind in backpacks or bins. Please consider the following suggestions to guide conversation with your child:
Cell phones must be kept out of sight and out of mind during class time.
Cell phones should be kept in the student’s backpack during class time.
Smart watches will be in silent mode while on campus and not used as a communication device.
Taking pictures, videos, and recording conversations unrelated to school assignments is prohibited during school hours and/or on school grounds.
Infinite Campus Updates
CALLING ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Just a reminder that every family must complete the Annual Update in Infinite Campus. The online version of our Annual Update process is now available for the 2023-2024 school year. The Annual Update allows you to make any updates to your contact information such as address changes, phone number changes, changes to a child’s health history, as well as update emergency contact information. This will replace the printed Emergency Card.
- Please go to portal.pvschools.net.
- Select More and then Annual Update.
- You may also click the Annual Update link on the Announcement Page.

Boost into the New School Year with Khan Academy
There are many math programs that could be used to help boost into the new school year. If your child tries logging into any of these and it does not work it may be in the process of being reloaded for the new school year. Don't panic! You can try one of the others or enjoy a break. But, if you want to do some practice to get back in the swing of things see below:
Khan Academy has some amazing online resources to get back in the swing of things for both math and language arts.
I would encourage students to work on the Math Get Ready Course for the grade they are entering, and if they would like also, the grade they just finished. Kahn has great videos, quizzes, and options to review and concepts you need more help with. Don't be discouraged if you don't know everything - we will do lots of review when we start up in August. This is just a chance for you to get a boost!!
Watch this video to see how to login and what to work on.
Zearn will be unavailable until the start of the new school year.
Open Up resources is great for 6-8th grade.
