FROM THE PTO:

*Thank you for your amazing support during our cookie dough fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who participated, we exceeded our $10,000 goal! We will be adding more prizes to our drawing. The bad news is that the company that produces the cookie dough is backed up. The earliest they could get our order delivered would’ve been on Halloween. We decided it would be better to wait until the following week. We will let you know when it will be ready for pick up.

**Please remember to send clipped Box Tops to school as soon as possible.

***This year we started doing Fun Run Thursdays. Every student who runs around the track helps their class get to a landmark.

What is Lunch With Someone Grand?

Lunch with Someone Grand is a lunch event where grandparents, parents, and other "grand" people in our lives get to join us in eating a special Thanksgiving-style lunch sponsored by our School Book Fair and our Hurricane Elementary School lunch program. Adults can bring their own lunch or they can purchase the Thanksgiving-style lunch with pumpkin pie.

The officers from the local police and fire departments serve lunch, and we have a treat time.

More information will be sent home soon. Stay tuned!

What to Expect at the Halloween Parade... and the rest of the day too.

Halloween is a great day to visit Hurricane Elementary School. Students, except 5th-graders (who are going on a walking field-trip that morning), will come to school dressed in their costumes. We ask that masks and costume props (plastic swords and other pretend plastic weapons) stay in backpacks until the parade. Please do not send children to school with realistic-looking weapons or props that could hurt another child.

Morning Kindergarteners have a parade on their playground and parents come and ooh and aww. (The time of the morning kindergarten parade will be posted shortly.)

Most classrooms have some sort of classroom party after lunch. Look for details from your child's teacher on the classroom party plans. Many classes invite parents to run games and to help in other ways.

The school parade involves afternoon kindergarten through grade 5. Parents will line the outside of the field and get ready to watch at or before 2:45. At 2:45 our students will walk to the field in their costumes and assemble on the field. They will have their backpacks and other items with them. After everyone is assembled, the students and teachers will walk around the track two times in costume. After walking the track, we will then line back up on the field where parents can check children out from the teacher to go home. Please have ID ready and sign your name to the check-out form before taking your child. Any children who have not been signed-out early will go home on the bus or however they usually go home at 3:30.

This will be our last Halloween parade for a couple of years. Halloween 2020 and 2021 will be on Saturday and Sunday. So, we'll do this again in 2022!
