May Newsletter
May 7, 2021
Dear Maple Families,
As we have reached the final full month of the 2020-2021 school year, we commit to ending strong. We are not counting the days, but we are making each day count with continued learning and celebrations!
MAP testing is underway and 3rd and 4th grades have completed their testing. Fifth grade will finish testing next week with ELA and Science, and sixth grade will also finish next week with math. A picnic and dance celebration is planned for Monday, May 17th. At this time we will celebrate the hard work of those completing the assessment. Make up assessments will continue through May 21st as needed.
PTO has sponsored an awesome Teacher Appreciation Week this week. Thank you to everyone who has supported by donating for staff treats and gifts. Your kindness is appreciated.
Mark your calendars now...Back-to-School night for the 2021-2022 school year will occur on Thursday, August 19, from 4:30-6:30 PM. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Have a great summer, and we hope to see you at summer school!
Wishing You Well,
Dr. Rena Hawkins, Principal, hawkinsr@smithville.k12.mo.us
Ashley Doll, Assistant Principal, dolla@smithville.k12.mo.us

News From the Innovation Lab
We have worked really hard on computational thinking this month in the innovation lab. Students have been programming and learning to code using many of the robots we have in the lab. We have also completed many spring and Earth Day building challenges.
I am proud of how hard the kids have worked in what has been a challenging year. We have had a lot of practice with our growth mindset! I appreciate all of your support throughout the year!
