Happy Veteren's Day Weekend
To you and yours who have family that have or are currently serving in the military we wish you a very thoughtful note of gratitude this Veteren's day weekend. I have several family members (Leah Borgerding, Mike Borgerding, Frank Archer, Paul Raftery) who have served in the military and I am thankful for their service. Additionally, we have many staff members on staff who have served as well. I want each of you to know that your service is appreciated and valued. Thank you!
As is tradition at this time of year we reflect on what we are thankful for. I hope as we inch closer to the holiday season that you find what/who you are thankful for and have the opportunity to share that gratitude.
I personally am thankful for a generous and caring staff that puts students first. I am thankful for a supportive and thoughtful community that values quality education and a moral and ethical approach to understanding and supporting all human beings without exception. I am thankful that we are partners in our students education.
Respectfully,
gb
In The Know
School Bond Measure - Happy news! The school bond measure was a success. With most ballots counted, the results show strong support (about 2/3) for the 4J school bond measure. This bodes well for all 4J families. We will see immediate benefits to supervision and safety and movement made on facility improvements. I want to send a great big thank you to everyone who came out and voted. We appreciate your support.
The Lady Lancers Girls Soccer Team - advanced to the Championship game by defeating Corvallis in an overtime penalty kick shoot out! Congratulations to these girls and coaches! They will play this Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium at 1:00pm.

Graduation Party Planning Meeting - Senior Families: The Grad Party planners are meeting on Thursday, November 15 at 3:30 pm in the library. All senior parents and guardians are welcome to join in and help plan this year's graduation party. The Graduation Party is not a school sponsored event. It is a parent organized event. Neither the school nor the district assumes responsibility for the planning, organization, facilitation, or outcome of this event. This has been a very successful event in the past and we are excited and thankful for the support that parents have provided over the years to provide a safe and celebratory atmosphere for our Seniors.

CHS Football - What an amazing football game Friday night. While it was the outcome we were all rooting for, it was a very exciting game to watch. Many thanks and appreciation go out to the coaches, athletes and their families for their long and fruitful season. I am proud of the work that our athletes did this year. They have a great many things to be proud of as do our coaches. Thank you AJ Robinson, Gabriel LeMay, Todd Kaanapu, Les Phillipo, Kelly Bokn and Kenny Niles for you tireless work and service to students. You make Churchill proud.
Chris Mudd - Thank you for your leadership with pep band. It is so great to have a band at the football and basketball games. Students really enjoy themselves and they bring so much energy to the crowd at every one of our contests. It was especially heartwarming to see the interaction between our and and the Thurston band on Friday night. Each band showed of different skills (Trombone suicides, etc) and demonstrated a significant level of respect, both between students and teachers. Thank you for sharing this with me and for making this a staple at our community events.
