Crafting PLE

The Art of Creating Personalized Learning Environments

FMS Edition - May, 2016

Happy May Day! I can't believe how close we are to the finish line. Hang in there and get ready for that feeling of success that will be coming your way at the end of EOGs!

Important Info

PLEF Schedule

Tablet Collection time is here, and that means I will be pulled to help at other schools. Please remember that I will not be in the building May 11 - 20. I will be available through email, should you need me.

If you have tablet issues, please continue to use the Tablet Trouble Ticket.

Tablet Collection

We were able to get tablet collection at FMS pushed back to right before EOGs! Tablets will be collected during Science and Social Studies classes on:

May 23 - 6th

May 24 - 7th

May 25 - 8th

Tablets will stay at school as of Monday, May 16. They will need to be charged in homeroom each night.

Please make sure students report lost and damaged tablets immediately!

More information will be given during grade level meetings on May 10.

Exporting Your Amplify Playlilst

Several of you have expressed the desire to keep your Amplify Playlists. Here's a great video on how to do just that. We'll also cover this in Saturday's Canvas training:

Moving Files from the Tablet to OneDrive

Make sure that your students are moving their files from their tablet to OneDrive, so that they can access them after collection. See this Smore for instructions:

It's Official!

The Lenovo Yoga IIe laptop devices have officially been approved by the GCS Board of Ed. Click the links below for news stories regarding the devices.

When will teachers receive their devices? Early June! Stay tuned for additional info regarding training options for the devices and official pick up dates.

Canvasing Your Class

Our first two Canvas sessions were great! I hope that those of you who were there are telling your peers what an awesome resource this is!

For those of you who have not attended a session? Why not? You get paid $100 to be here, and you can start creating content for next year. Who doesn't like to be ahead of the game? If you're worried that it's difficult, I can assure you it's not. And I will be here to help you every step of the way - including getting your courses set up over the summer if you need help.

For my third-timers: Bring your materials for next year (or this year) and you have a paid day to just work getting your courses ready.

For Day 2'ers: This will be more self-paced, as you've already got the ground-work. You can go ahead and start getting your courses ready, also.

For Newbies: This will be a step-by-step introduction to Canvas. By the time you leave, you will have a Canvas course shell, with at least some content.

Be sure to click below to register if you haven't already!

It’s designed to bring fresh energy into classroom. Teams of students work together, racing to learn the material in a Quizlet study set.
